OUR FIRST FAMILY VACATION

I don't know how to have vacations. And, due to this weakness of mine, my family has suffered the most. I would feel guilty for going on a vacation. Everything I need to do in life needed purpose. How could I go on vacations when that money can be used to pay off a debt, build a home... how could I go on a vacation leaving sick parents behind?

Even though those sick parents would plead me to go out. Yes, I have taken kids and Amna out but those were either work trips or trips undertaken to fulfill a commitment where we would squeeze out time to have a few moments. Did go on a few picnics with families, but no vacations with Amna and the kids.

Just didn't have the capacity to switch off from the world.

Then, planning one was difficult, it wasn't possible for me to plan one. Which hotel? Strolling in the streets or a resort? Gazing at the marvels or sleeping it out? Would Amna get leave? Can I take out time from work and work related travel?

So, this time we just decided we will just go and disconnect. No hotel bookings, just keys to a flat a friend had in Murree. Keys that he slipped in my bag when I met him last. We had a last minute hiccup, but this time we made sure we will go. And then, we reached Murree.

And every small moment became a lifetime memory from there onwards.

Like it was visiting my own childhood where our stroll at the Mall Road would start or our first stop used to be Lintott's. And now my memory is also their memory now. I am so glad for passing on this inheritance to them.

Hope we do this often, @sahar_amna, insha'Allah. Love you four, more. ❤️ 🩷 💙 💜

It has been eleven years with @sahar_amna, ALHAMDULILAH.

Eleven years ago, we said "yes" to each other without knowing what the future would hold. We began as two people carrying hopes, dreams, fears, and faith. Today, by Allah's infinite mercy, we are five - blessed with Khadija, Ibrahim, and Ayisha, ALHAMDULILAH.

Marriage is a strange and beautiful journey. Over these eleven years, we have travelled through days of joy and days of uncertainty. There were moments when dreams came true and moments when life broke me in ways I did not think possible. Especially in the last four years, there were losses, battles, disappointments, and tests that left deep marks on the heart. I told her I won't be able to give her time, she remained. I told her the children won't get time, she remained. I told her they are going to put me in a cell, she remained. I told her if I don't survive, she said she will continue the battle till the end - she said she will hold the fort.

Through it all, she remained. She stood beside me.

People often say thank you to their spouses for supporting them. But I am not sure that is the right phrase here. After all, she signed up for the adventure. She chose this life, with all its chaos, unpredictability, impossible ideas, long journeys, and stubborn dreams.

So perhaps this is not a thank you.

Perhaps it is simply an acknowledgement that Allah SWT was exceptionally kind to me when He wrote her into my story.

She has shared in every dream, we built a family and house together, took every risk, celebrated every victory, and glorified Allah SWT for every heartbreak, together.

If there is one thing I would thank her for, it is this:

For making the journey beautiful. For giving me a home in a world that often feels like a battlefield.

And for reminding me, every day, that I married the most beautiful woman, not merely in appearance, but in spirit.

Eleven years down. INSHALLAH, a lifetime to go.
