Educating Girls and Women in Afghanistan
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
What is happening in Herat is not an isolated incident. It is part of a wider system of control over Afghan women’s movement, clothing, education, work, and public life. Women in Afghanistan are being punished for existing in public. Yet they continue to resist with courage, dignity, and an unwavering belief in their right to live freely. At Sahar Education, we stand with Afghan girls and women who are demanding their rights and building futures despite severe restrictions. Education is one of the strongest forms of resistance. It creates knowledge, confidence, independence, and hope. Take time to understand what is happening. Share their stories. The doors to formal education may be closed, but Afghan girls have not stopped learning. 💻 In classrooms Mazar-i-Sharif, young women in Sahar Education’s Underground TechSheroes program are learning to code, developing digital skills, and discovering new possibilities for their futures. They’re building websites, mastering technology, and strengthening their confidence, all while navigating extraordinary restrictions on their right to education. These young women are not defined by the barriers placed before them. They are students, innovators, and future leaders who deserve the opportunity to pursue their ambitions. But we urgently need funding to keep these opportunities available. Through GlobalGiving’s Safer World Campaign, you have the opportunity to make twice the impact for Afghan girls and women. ❤️ Every eligible donation is matched dollar for dollar, while matching funds last! Your gift helps Sahar Education sustain programs like Underground TechSheroes, ensuring that more young women can continue learning skills that support independence, opportunity, and self-determination. A safer world is one where girls can learn without fear, pursue their dreams, and shape their own futures. Help us keep education within reach. Donate today and double your impact. 🔗 https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/sahar-education/ 🔔Follow Sahar Education for future updates! ♥️ Support Education for Afghan Girls! . . . #SaharEducation #SaferWorldCampaign #GlobalGiving #UndergroundTechSheroes #AfghanGirlsDeserveEducation #WomenInTechnology #GirlsWhoCode #DoubleYourDonation #EmpowerThroughEducation by @sahareducation

🚨 Afghan girls are determined to keep learning. We urgently need your help to keep their classrooms open. At a time when girls in Afghanistan are denied access to secondary education, Sahar Education’s Underground TechSheroes program is creating critical opportunities for young women to develop computer skills, learn coding, and build confidence in their futures. Today, 120 young women are participating in this program, gaining skills that can open doors to greater independence and economic opportunity. But continuing this work requires funding. Without sustained support, the educational opportunities these students have worked so hard to access are at risk. ❤️ Right now, your donation can go TWICE as far! Through GlobalGiving’s 2026 Safer World Campaign, eligible donations to Sahar Education are being matched 100%, up to $1,000 per donor, while matching funds remain available. 💻 $50 becomes $100. 💻 $100 becomes $200. 💻 $500 becomes $1,000. Your generosity can help sustain technology education for Afghan girls who refuse to give up on their dreams. The need is urgent. The opportunity to double your impact is here. 🔗 Donate today: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/sahar-education/ 🔔Follow Sahar Education for future updates! ♥️ Support Education for Afghan Girls! . . . #SaharEducation #SaferWorldCampaign #GlobalGiving #UndergroundTechSheroes #EducationForAfghanGirls #DoubleYourImpact #AfghanWomen #GirlsInTech #EducationIsARight by @sahareducation

A New Dawn Brunch Benefit was made especially meaningful by the remarkable women who shared their voices, stories, and talents with us. Thank you to Hasenat Eqbali, who shared the lasting impact education has had on her life and offered a powerful reminder of what investing in girls’ education can make possible. Thank you to Zarifa Adiba, musician, author, and advocate, for sharing both her voice and her inspiring perspective on the transformative power of education and art. And thank you to author Maryam Sabetian for sharing an excerpt from her memoir, Flowers of Kindergarten, and adding another moving voice to this special celebration. Each of you helped make our 25th anniversary celebration a day of reflection, connection, culture, and hope. We are deeply grateful for the role you played in bringing Sahar Education’s mission to life. If you made a pledge at the brunch and are still completing your contribution, remember to check whether your employer offers a matching gift program. Your contribution may be eligible to go even further in supporting educational opportunities for Afghan girls and women.
