Atlanta wasn’t just a backdrop. It was part of the story. 🎬

A Different World showrunner, Felicia Pride, shares why bringing Hillman to Atlanta felt like the most authentic choice.

From the Atlanta institutions featured in the original series to the rich HBCU culture that continues to shape the city today, Atlanta has long been connected to the world that inspired Hillman.

Now, a new generation gets to experience that connection.

ACE is about more than events. It’s about ideas, identity, and the people shaping our city.

In this conversation, we reflect on ACE, Jaylen Brown’s visit, the magic of Atlanta, and what it truly means to be a free Black man

These are the conversations that continue to shape Atlanta’s cultural story. 🧡

Great cities of the world make arts and culture part of the experience of the city.

As supporters of the arts, we want to see that creativity everywhere: across our neighborhoods, in our public spaces and throughout our communities. Every city has its own way of celebrating what makes it distinct, and Atlanta is no different.

Our culture is everywhere. And that’s exactly where it belongs. 🎨✨

Y’all, I’m just happy it worked out because I was willing to come at RISK 😭😂

I really had no idea if I was going to get this interview. I just knew I wanted it, so I showed up, stayed around and hoped for the best.

And somehow… I ended up interviewing Kelly Rowland. Like??? 😭

I’m really just figuring all of this out as I go and sharing the journey in real time. Some things work, some things don’t, but this one WORKED. 😂

Anyway, follow along. Let’s see where this thing takes me. 🤭✨

Come with me to see if I can get an interview with Kelly Rowland. 👀🎤

I came to @ahf_aidswalkatlanta5k with one goal: get an interview with Kelly.

I grew up on Destiny’s Child, so getting to watch her perform was already a moment for me. But I still had a mission, and I was determined to see it through.

So I waited. Stayed persistent. And hoped I’d get my chance.

Watch to see how it all played out. 👀

And follow along for more of the journey. ✨

Get good. Then get better. 🎬

Felicia Pride’s advice to creatives is simple: practice your craft until you’re GOOD at what you do. The community, connections and opportunities can come after.

But the craft comes first. Period.

Before Shirley Franklin could run for mayor, she had to work through the fear that was telling her she couldn’t.

Fear of failing. Fear of being exposed. Fear of stepping into something bigger than she had ever imagined for herself.

She shares that therapy helped her confront those fears and ultimately consider taking the leap that would change her life and Atlanta history.

Her advice for anyone wrestling with those same feelings: don’t be afraid to seek therapy and support.

Another gem from our conversation with former Mayor Shirley Franklin. ✨

Sometimes fear shows up before you realize what you’re capable of.

Before Mayor Franklin saw herself as a leader, she saw herself as the number two or number three. The person who could help get the job done, but not necessarily the person leading it.

We’re grateful she shared this part of her story because it’s a reminder that the people we admire weren’t always fearless. Sometimes they were afraid, unsure and still figuring it out too.

Being afraid doesn’t mean you’re not ready. Sometimes it’s just part of becoming.
