One week later, and we’re still thinking about an unforgettable Sail250® Virginia weekend 🌊⚓

What a celebration it was. The waterfront came alive with the sight of majestic tall ships lining our shores, crowds gathering to take in the views, live entertainment filling the air, and families, friends, and visitors creating memories together at every turn. From the excitement of seeing these incredible ships up close, to exploring the festivities, enjoying the music, sharing laughs, and soaking in the energy across the weekend — there was something special around every corner.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the events, and helped make Sail250® Virginia such a memorable experience. Seeing our community and visitors from near and far come together to celebrate history, connection, and maritime tradition made this weekend one we won’t soon forget.

As the ships officially begin their departure today, we’re looking back on an incredible Sail250® Virginia weekend ⚓🌊

Over the past few days, we experienced an unforgettable celebration featuring more than 60 incredible vessels, waterfront excitement, live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and an amazing sense of community. From exploring historic ships and taking in stunning harbor views to enjoying the countless festivities throughout the weekend, there was truly something for everyone.

Today marks the close of an exciting and memorable celebration. While the sails may be heading toward the horizon, the memories, energy, and experiences shared throughout the weekend will stay with us long after the last ship leaves port.

✨ Day 2 delivered!

It was another unforgettable day of Sail250® Virginia and the 50th Annual Norfolk Harborfest. From exploring visiting international tall ships and military vessels to hands-on fun at the Discovery Deck, there was something for everyone to experience along the waterfront.

The day was capped off with an incredible headlining performance by Fitz and the Tantrums and another spectacular fireworks display over the Elizabeth River. 🎆🎶

But the celebration isn’t over yet… there’s still one more day to go!

🎉 Day 1 is in the books!

Thousands gathered along the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront as we celebrated Juneteenth and kicked off the big Festival Weekend with community programming, live music, incredible performances from national and regional artists, including Sister Sledge and Patti LaBelle, and a spectacular Juneteenth Freedom Fireworks display over the Elizabeth River! 🎆

And we’re just getting started! ✨

⚓️ Before You Board: Important Ship Tour & Naval Base Security Information ⚓️

Planning to tour the tall ships or military vessels during Sail250® Virginia? Be sure you're prepared before you arrive.

✅ For Naval Station Norfolk tours:
• U.S. citizens ages 18+ must present a REAL ID
• Non-U.S. citizens must present a passport and may be subject to additional screening
• All guests and belongings are subject to search
• Closed-toe shoes are required
• Visitors must be able to navigate steep gangways and ladder wells aboard ships

🚫 Prohibited items include:
• Firearms, knives, pepper spray, multitools, and other weapons
• Alcohol, illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia
• Drones and motorized scooters
• Large bags, backpacks, and bookbags
• Professional camera and recording equipment
