My First International Speaking GigHad lots of fun presenting my Force Plate Data Interpretation System. A framework I have been developing over the past 2 years advancing rather quickly in my understanding of data analysis and the translation to training programs.Most importantly however I’m happy about the connections I made this weekend. 60 people - all obsessed with the same topic. @uschoops internship came to an end🥲This was by far the most important trip of my life. I learned a ton about how D1 programs are run and what it means to work in the team sector.THANK YOU @andremattsoncarrera for making this possible. It‘s been an honor to learn from such a elite coach with infectious work ethic. You truly inspired me to get better man. Appreciate every single one our conversations and all the help you offered. Dario has had some trouble with his left knee since his ACL a few years back.They had to take quite a bit of his hamstring as the donor site and it’s left him feeling a little weak and unstable around there.A big theme from our weekend workshop in Munich was around making exercises much harder when people are struggling with them.So here we add movements that will try to pull him into the very positions that he is struggling to avoid.Now rather than me trying to cue him out of it, ask him to activate certain muscles or regress the exercise.I just have to say “don’t let that leg pull you in”.This exercise wasn’t planned & wasn’t part of the workshop curriculum.It was just a quick 2 minute problem solving session that just happened to help me expand on my points around feeding the “error” and making drills much harder rather than much easier.Oh, and give @saisantraining a follow - if you like S&C then you won’t regret it!@davidgreyrehab by @saisantraining

FULL FORCE PLATE INTERPRETATIONThe depth jump was the final test in my force plate testing battery with Jakob. It was also the final test of the entire session, and I could already see that his impact-jump skill had improved throughout the testing process. Because of that, I found the ground mechanics in his depth jump - the biomechanical actions during ground contact - to be well executed.What stood out most was the reorientation of his torso. He moved from a slightly hinged position into a perfectly vertical position during the transition from the eccentric to the concentric phase. His triple-extension sequencing was clean, and he displayed a fearless jump intent. That is an important marker because it helps indicate whether an athlete is actually expressing their true neuromuscular output or whether some form of inhibition is still present.His depth-jump numbers, however, are alerting in a positive sense because they show how much potential he still has. His countermovement jump was the highest of the four force plate jumps we tested at 45 centimeters, while his depth jump was only the second highest at 44 centimeters. That is not a good relationship. In principle, an athlete should be able to jump higher from a depth jump because there is more time available to organize the movement and because the athlete can use the stretch-shortening cycle and the impact energy from the landing.If a reactive sport athlete or speed-power athlete cannot convert those advantages into a higher jump than their countermovement jump, then something is limiting the performance. That led me back to his braking metrics. Once again, his average braking force was above the mean, while his peak braking force was below average.This supports what I saw in the video. His ground mechanics and technique were solid, but his peak neuromuscular capacity for applying braking force in an impact context was lackluster. He can organize the movement correctly, but he cannot yet produce a sufficiently high braking-force peak during the short time window created by the impact.For me, the interpretation is straightforward: he simply needs to perform more plyometrics. FULL DROP JUMP VIDEO & DATA ANALYSISJakob displayed a 37cm drop jump, which is not an impressive result. However, he shows several strong underlying qualities and kinematic indicators that suggest there is a lot of untapped potential in this test.#forceplate #forceplates #movementquality #strengthandconditioning #sportsperformancetraining What is very positive about his drop jump is the determination in his jump initiation. His brain does not appear to be concerned about pain or any other threat that might put the brakes on his performance. He attacks the ground actively, pre-tenses very well, and produces a contact time of 0.21 seconds, which is in a good range. His overall stiffness, intermuscular coordination, joint coupling, extension sequencing, and terminal knee extension are all more than adequate. These mechanisms are intact and are primarily capped by his current physical & neuromuscular capacity.The only clear technical issue after takeoff is, once again, his jump intent. He tries to artificially increase jump height by reaching upward with his head. At best, this does not contribute anything to the jump. At worst, it takes cognitive resources away from the actual task because the full intent sequence of the jump is not organized optimally.The main negative observation relates to a previous big toe and medial ankle injury. This has created intrinsic foot and especially toe-flexor deficits on his left side. We identified this repeatedly throughout the week, and it consistently showed up in his movements, as well as in his subjective feeling that the left leg is not as springy. I also confirmed this across the other plyometric tasks, change-of-direction work, and sprint training.In the drop jump, this becomes visible during amortization, when the movement transitions from eccentric to concentric. There is a slight give in the left heel as he begins to reverse the movement. This suggests a lack of stiffness or a lack of a stable forefoot platform to push from. The same issue appears in the force-time curve and in the asymmetry metrics, so this is a clear deficit that needs to be addressed.From a more global perspective, his peak relative br by @saisantraining

MY FULL INTEPRETATION OF HIS DATA:Jakob’s pogo jumps are an interesting case because he already displays all the main markers of stiffness and the local qualities required to produce it: ankle pre-tensioning, foot strength, toe strength, and adequate force capacity throughout the lower body. More stiffness is not always better; adequate stiffness is optimal. There is an optimal amount of stiffness across the kinetic chain, and with Jakob, it is very evident that he has enough force capacity to generate that level of stiffness. (Swipe to continue reading)However, he is currently bottlenecked by two things. The first is plantar flexor power. His lower legs simply do not produce enough output to give him more bounce at his current standard. The second is, once again, his skill and his psychological or central nervous system confidence in the jumps. He has a clear gap in arm coordination and general airborne skill, and this becomes especially visible during repeated pogo jumps.It takes him too long to complete each landing-takeoff sequence because, once he becomes airborne, he is still cognitively occupied with the previous jump. In cyclical plyometrics, the opposite needs to happen: as soon as you leave the ground, your attention should already shift toward organizing the next jump. Jakob does not fully understand or feel that rhythm yet, but this is something that usually develops through repetition, experience in cyclical plyometrics, and deliberate practice focused on relaxing in the air.What is positive is that his adequate stiffness generation allows him to produce very short ground contact times. The local mechanisms are all intact: foot pre-tensioning, knee and hip stiffness, the ankle flick, the foot action toward the floor, and the intermuscular coordination across the entire kinetic chain. His joint coupling and stiffness generation are clearly present. Despite his more bulldog-like body type, he is also able to stay very upright at touchdown, which helps him create stiffness and get off the ground quickly.The overall interpretation is therefore that this is mainly a skill issue. My Coaching Brain is powered by my Evidence Grading SystemMost knowledge vaults quietly decay over time. You add notes, link a few, and eventually it turns into a cluttered pile where a half-remembered podcast claim sits next to a serious study and looks just as trustworthy. The Sprint Brain is built to do the opposite - it works like a model that keeps updating its beliefs as evidence comes in. The core rule is simple: take in new information, but don’t trust it right away. Each new source is checked and weighed against what’s already known, and only then is it allowed to shift what the brain treats as true.The bigger idea is that knowledge is stored as many small, self-contained pieces rather than long documents you have to re-read. Each piece knows exactly what question it answers and how sure we are about it. That means when you need something, you get the precise answer instead of digging through pages of notes. The brain behaves less like a filing cabinet and more like a system you can actually ask.Not all evidence is treated equally. Every source is ranked by how strong and how relevant it is. At the top sits gold-standard evidence you can confidently build on. Below that comes solid support, then weaker background material, and at the bottom are early ideas that are interesting but unproven. A claim is only allowed to sound as confident as the evidence beneath it: strong evidence lets it speak plainly, weak evidence keeps it cautious. And when better evidence arrives, the claim updates to match.This is how the Sprint Brain architecture avoids context rot. When two sources disagree, the disagreement is kept and shown openly, instead of being quietly buried. Knowledge stays organized around what we actually know and how well we know it. Because everything is built from small, ranked pieces that update as evidence grows, the brain gets sharper over time instead of noisier. Force Plate Analysis ShowcaseThis was a 45cm jump, which is a solid result for a midfielder in football. The main issue in his countermovement jump was his poor utilization of the arms, which disrupted the timing of the entire unweighting and braking phase. His lower body and trunk effectively had to wait for the arms to catch up, creating a prolonged amortization phase, a longer braking phase, and increased total movement time.Everything I saw in the video shows up in the curve as well as the metrics. My coaching eye tells me where to look.Despite all of that, he still solves the concentric phase fairly well by showcasing what is currently his biggest strength: propulsive strength and power. The force-time curve confirms what I observed in the kinematics (video), showing a shallow V-shaped unweighting curve and a drawn-out braking phase.This suggests that the unweighting and braking phases are probably not a true representation of his underlying eccentric strategy or capabilities. Instead, they reflect his current movement strategy and are heavily influenced by the arm-timing skill issue. In other words, the eccentric and braking metrics from this CMJ are masked by skill-related noise. As a coach, I therefore cannot confidently interpret those metrics as a direct representation of his eccentric abilities. To understand those qualities better, I would need to look at his drop jump, depth jump, and change-of-direction tests. In this specific case, those tests would tell me more about his eccentric capacity than the countermovement jump.The next major issue is likely a psychological or central nervous system threat-perception constraint. His body does not yet appear to fully trust him to perform maximal jumps without pulling the handbrake through an early fixation on creating a clean landing. That takes up valuable cognitive space and resources that could otherwise contribute to propulsion. This becomes visible in the airborne phase, where he immediately looks down to calibrate the landing and maintains excessive tension throughout the flight.If he were able to relax in the air and delay thinking about the landing, more of his resources could go towar by @saisantraining
