Nerds. We think this board was a wedding present, but it might have been an early-marriage Christmas present. Lazy susan option on the board is *chef's kiss*. Swipe for action kitten shot. by @sallyfolklore

And there you have it! High school is done. Congratulations, Julius; we are so proud to be your parents. Enjoy the summer, you've earned it.

Thank you to everyone who has helped him find his way and helped him become the person he is. (Kids and adults alike.) I could write an ode extolling all the fun, neat, silly, compelling, and endearing things about you, J, but that would embarass you and you'd stop listening. So, just this: You're aces, Kid. by @sallyfolklore

Friends and Family of the gym, we are starting a fundraiser TONIGHT to help replace equipment. Our stuff is old and is wearing out (see that second picture for a few examples)! Why are we running a fundraiser? Because the way we serve the community causes us to supplement about $3,000 aper month is helping students pay for memberships, athlete travel, etc. Please use the link in the bio to donate! taken in McKenna's Gym by @sallyfolklore

Since September, I've been doing something I first tried 30 years ago and finally had the chance to try again: wheel-thrown pottery. It's so much fun, even when things don't go well. So very many opportunities for learning, I keep telling myself! Special thanks to my teacher @nifolewuzhere for telling me to lean in to my style (even while I'm figuring that out) and my fellow student (but also excellent mentor) @potterdee11 for so many helpful hints and tool loans along the way! by @sallyfolklore

Good night, sweet prince, and thanks for being the best. RIP Ernie, 8/31/13-3/16/26. You took on any dog who dared cross your path, and you were only scared of Outside. You were the best weighted blanket who ever lived. We will miss you and every one of your toes. Thanks to @mckennaweightlifting for convincing me we could handle a cat all those years ago. ❤️ by @sallyfolklore

The time since my dad’s passing December 2 has been very difficult. My mom requested that I build him an urn and it has become my most meaningful piece to date. What better way to pay homage to my father, the man who sparked my love of woodworking, among many other things. The sides and moldings are black walnuts, from wood that is being used in the pewter press that he started and I am completing. The figured walnut top was gifted from our dear friend and mentor, Bess Naylor. The pine bottom is from wood my dad salvaged in the early 1980s fron an early 18th century barn that was torn down. The salvaged the rocks from its foundation and built the stone wall around his barn as well as along the rear fields. The door he also salvaged and he and I have used it sparingly as secondary wood in period pieces. In addition, I primarily used his tools to construct this piece. by @sallyfolklore

My father died December 2. Below you'll find his brief obituary (which was supposed to appear in the local paper today, but for unknown reasons is missing and also still absent from the funeral home website.) Everyone is welcome at his memorial service, which will be a week from today on Sunday, December 28. Details below. My brother has made the most beautiful urn from some of Daddy's black walnut.

How does one sum up a life in 450 words? It's impossible. But probably the most important thing is an observation my husband made after seeing the parade of friends and family who came to visit Dad in the hospital -- four generations of loved ones, some of whom hadn't seen Dad in decades but who wanted to show love again before the end. "More than anything else, your father loves love. He has loved people being kind to each other. He loves people showing their love for each other. He could sit back for hours and just watch and listen to people [care] about each other. His appreciation of people showing love for each other and letting that love happen is what he is the best at." And so, the photo I share is one from my parents' 50th anniversary dinner, showing him sitting and watching people he loved laugh and talk with each other.
