I don’t get to shoot often, and I’m definitely out of practice—but it was such a pleasure capturing someone as beautiful and talented as the amazing @sallyvanderpump . #actorsportraits #owningit #owningitactingstudio #actorslife by @sallyvanderpump

I’ve been circling round this decision for actual years - been to two open evenings, quizzed staff and past students, talked about it endlessly, weighed the pros and cons, the costs and my capacity.

I’ve literally made a podcast about taking a Creative Twist (link in bio 😉) but for some reason this one took a while. Now I’m all in and I cannot blooming wait.

Joy is literally on the curriculum.

I’m so excited to get stuck in and meet the other students and am planning to explore combining my love of acting with a fascination for the nervous system, bodywork and mindfulness. But who knows what the next two years will hold?

Thank you, @louisebr33 for being my application “student” and to all the amazing coaches and teachers I’ve been working with over the last few years, my inspiring mentees and the friends and family who have listened to me bang on about whether or not to do this. Can’t wait to get back to school!

A few years ago now, I started writing a short film called FutureU.

Some amazing people kindly gave me feedback. Thank you to everyone who has read a previous draft or listened to me bang on about it so far!

I’m incredibly grateful and delighted that @csarnold10 (who directed the 🌟award-winning @girlstogether_shortfilm 🌟 that I was lucky to play a part in), has joined me on the project full of enthusiasm, patience and brilliant ideas.

We’ve been knocking the script back and forth to get it sharp and ship shape and today we met up for another round of edits and to work on the pitch deck.

We’ll be looking for a producer soon so if you like your shorts female-driven with a touch of sci-fi, feel free to get in touch before we get in touch with you!

So excited to be working on this with you, Christie.

Are you ready to be your best self?

Finally! I’ve been working on an ebook, Calm, Confident, Present: A Five-Day Mindfulness Guide for Actors, for ages and at last it is ready for you… sign up to my mailing list to get it for free. Do not fear, I will not send you a huge amount of emails because life is too dang short.

So. Actors, if you’ve ever turned up late to an audition in a panic, felt like a rabbit in the headlights at a workshop or just know you could benefit from being more present in your performances and everyday life, this is the ebook for you.

There is a companion audio guide coming soon but for now, I’m going to celebrate actually doing a thing.

I really hope you enjoy and find it helpful. Please let me know what you think. The link is in my bio and I’ll put it in the next story too.

P.S. I am stroking my very needy dog out of shot in case you’re wondering. Probably should have included her 😆

Thanks for a brilliant morning @directorscuttheatre

So much fun to watch the work of actors and writers in the end of term plays @calderbookshop and take a leap of faith with writer Christopher Fletcher, reading his play for the first time on stage in a devilishly cunning exploration of the theme of trust and betrayal! 👏🙌

What a gorgeous week. Took a trip down memory lane in Leeds - hard to say whether I spent more time in the Old Bar or the English department when I was at university 🤔 … had a lovely night in @redlionburnsall followed by a rainy glimpse of my Granny’s town of Girvan and a glorious few days by Loch Fyne with the best hosts. Thank you for having us, Mark and @morvmcm

Those awe-inspiring Scottish skies 😍

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the nervous system (hence the pensive shot). About how wired so many of us are, so much of the time, especially actors.

We put ourselves out there again and again, often at a cost to our sense of safety. Auditions, rehearsals, performances: we can slip into fight-or-flight mode before we’ve even stepped into the room.
But when we approach performance from a place of calm, connection and joy, everything changes. Playfulness returns. Walls come down. Work feels alive.

Connection and playfulness are so precious in these crazy times.

If you ever feel in need of a reset, I’ve made a couple of short meditations specifically for actors. They’re available on my website and I’d love to hear what you think.

The link is in my bio and if you’d like to hear more please join my mailing list.
