This postpartum experience healed something in me. When Emjae was born I was young, petrified, completely alone. I started back at work at the same age Lottie is now to keep a roof over our head. I missed everything. I spent all day thinking about him instead of being with him. I was the best mom I could be, with what I had. I always wanted to have this experience without living under a dark cloud.

My 23 year old self needed Lottie’s arrival to heal Emjae’s mum so I’m a better mum to both of them.

My favourite part of the last 10 weeks is watching how my first baby, loves my second baby. The bond I have with my brother, who is 10 years my senior, is replicated with my children. Happy 10

What a trip! 🚙🗺️
I never thought driving across the country in a 3 door Jimny (fitted with a homemade roof rack tray) would be the best thing I ever did. This country is absolutely BEAUTIFUL 🇦🇺🦘
We saw some incredible sights, experienced some questionable food but had so so so much fun. by @sallywoolston_

Life is CRAZY busy… but it’s nice to stop and reflect just how far my guy has come. From almost being expelled… to being one of the best behaved kids, I am so proud. School is not for every kid, it’s certainly not for this one but he has taken it all in stride and every day puts in the effort to make sure he shows up as the best version of himself. ❤️👏🏻 by @sallywoolston_

I remember sitting in bed at 3am… nursing a 3 month old Emjae back to sleep, knowing I have to get up in an hour to get ready for work… to drop him at daycare at 6am so I could work a 12 hour day, to pick Emjae up at 6 pm, to study through the night with breaks only to tend to Emjae every 3 hours… to do it all over again the next day…for the next few years.

It’s not often I think about the past, I like to focus on the future, but this Mother’s Day marks a decade of being a mum and it’s made me reflect back to that night and how petrified and exhausted I was… and it had only just begun.

I am so grateful for my younger mum self… it was her determination to provide us both a great life that lead us to where we are now. She is the reason I know the next 10 are going to be even better. 🤍 by @sallywoolston_
