It all started when I saw #SINNERS this Spring. I was with one of my besties, a writer-director, and saw how moved he was by @proximitymedia ‘s Ryan Coogler. He said it was as if Coogler was directly speaking to him, encouraging him to move forward as a Creative.

In turn, I was deeply moved and decided that I would put my skill set and resources out there to support marginalized Creators, and get their projects made.

So, I joined forces with @nov11thpictures as a producer and EP’d my first short this month!

First look behind the scenes of HOLDOUT.

Matt Christian steps into the pressure cooker as BENNY, opposite Yasha Rayzberg as CRAIG—two performances colliding in a story where loyalty, fear, and survival are constantly at odds.

In honor of Black History Month, HOLDOUT proudly honors the Black creatives who carried this story from imagination to intention, from pen to lens, and from lens to screen.

HOLDOUT began as a spark in 2021, written by Writer/Director Anthony Jones @anthony_s_ig, then known as CAPTURED. Years later, in October 2025, that spark was passed, intentionally and generously, to Writer/Director Lilton Stewart III @liltonstewart3, who infused the script with his voice and vision in preparation to bring the story to life as a short film.

To build the foundation, Lilton partnered with Ariel Salomé @iamarielsalome, a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur stepping boldly into her first independently produced film. As Producer, Ariel architected the framework that allowed the project to breathe, creating space for collaboration, discovery, and the assembling of a team rooted in purpose.

That journey led to cinematography. Through fellow Black woman Writer/Director India Bey @indi.65, Lilton was introduced to her friend and collaborator, Kieran Armstrong @wesnosheckk, a visual storyteller whose eye captures more than images. His frames carry memory, culture, and the quiet gravity of the Black experience, etched into every composition.

As we celebrate our history, while pushing toward a future where our contributions no longer require a designated month to be acknowledged, we choose to shine a cascading light on Black excellence, Black collaboration, and Black legacy.

Because Black history is American history.

Happy American History.

On December 13th of last year, a group of incredible filmmakers came together to bring HOLDOUT to life.

What began as a screenplay written by Anthony Jones in 2021, and later revitalized for the present day by Lilton Stewart III, became something bigger through collaboration, trust, and pure creative hunger. Orchestrated by Ariel Salomé and Salomé Media, this team built a world that’s tense, intimate, and unforgettable.

Through the striking visuals of Kieran Armstrong and the fully realized production design of Kelly Wick, the story found its texture. And through the undeniable performances of Matt Christian, Mphatso Mgangira, Yasha Rayzberg, Nicholas Adams, and Hannah Folk, it found its heartbeat.

This is just the beginning.

Post-production is underway, festivals are on the horizon, and we can’t wait to take you along for what comes next.
