And it deserves every bit of disruption it gets, whether from AI or otherwise.

I knew I didn’t want to be a part of the traditional art world when it was obvious the best way to get ahead was to lead with my identity.

I refused to submit work to places that advertised their prioritization of women or minorities or whatever the hottest Marginalized Community of the month was.

That made my options slim, so a self-made career was the only way to keep my integrity.

The industry hasn’t changed, it’s just made its broken motivations less obvious.

Still today, some artists bully any artist who uses AI, demanding everyone meet a their standards that have nothing to do what actually matters:

is your work good or not.

Many of the same people who advocated cancelling artists for not performing the right politics are now outraged that anyone can use new tools to make art without pandering to the industry or hiring them.

But competition and decentralization make every industry better, especially one that’s forgotten it doesn’t exist to make artists feel special or give them a pension.

The art industry exists solely to produce great art, from whoever and however.

The artist who loses sight of that goal is the obstacle to it—not the people making more art. by @salomesibonex

Enjoy the ugly art!

Let it teach us something just like stubbing a toe teaches us to walk carefully.

🔑 That’s the point of art—to look with honesty and see what an artwork does to you and the world around it. Like a chemical experiment, seeing which elements cause what reactions.

All art is an invitation to the artist’s inner world, but that invitation still exists within the outer world. The merging of these two worlds is what can make or break an artwork.

🔎 Even when we imagine a different reality, we still imagine reality; reality is always part of the formula, whether we acknowledge it or not.

And when we don’t, it undermines us. Even artists aren’t above reality. by @salomesibonex

📢 Mind your business and MAKE SHIT!

Social media has empowered the worst kind of person: all talk, no action. They complain about what others haven’t built and criticize what others build.

But life rewards action.

🔑 The most successful people aren’t usually making 5 videos a day to tell you why they’re right. They’re building the world they believe in.

But this is the danger of our time, where talk is elevated and action goes unseen:

whole generations can forget that reality doesn’t care if you have a million followers or you dunk on everyone you disagree with.

Reality only rewards correct action.

Know what you’re building, why you’re building it, and build it. Whether it’s a business, a sculpture, or a family, the reality is the same.

❤️ Sad for losing such an inspiring artist, but overjoyed to know Dolly Parton did it:

she created a life and career that were completely hers from start to finish.

I first discovered Dolly’s music on a road trip around the Olympic Peninsula in Washington where I had no phone signal and only a radio in my car. She helped kick off a major worldview shift for me, but that’s another story.

🔑 While I love her music, I love her perspective even more. It’s not just her art that has so much to teach, but the attitude that she took toward making it.

She’s the artist to study if you want to know what happens when your art is borne of authenticity, creation-focused living, and a foundation of love.

To living the hell out of this life.🤠❤️ by @salomesibonex

🧠 No shortage of information, but starvation for intellectualism.

What does intellectualism look like?

• It’s curiously. Asking more questions than making dismissive statements.

• It’s trying to disprove your *own* beliefs because that’s the best way to find out if they’re true.

• It’s speaking to the strongest parts of an opposing argument because you’re seeking understanding, not protection from criticism.

• It’s being able to disagree on a subject respectfully because you know disagreements are both inevitable and opportunities to learn more about other views and your own.

• It’s knowing that above all, there’s a good chance you’re wrong and the faster you find out, the better your life will be.

In other words, it’s both a constant practice of self-improvement and increasingly rare.

🌎 And it’s always worth it because reality is infinitely more beautiful than our limited beliefs about what we think reality should be. by @salomesibonex

Four years and two days ago, I exchanged numbers with a guy I knew it wouldn’t work out with.

One year and one day ago, I married that guy (@jake.takes.pictures).

❤️ Now I enjoy a living reminder that the best things in your life will often cost you those precious beliefs you’re so certain of.

Still kind of waiting to find out he’s a hologram and I’m in an alien’s experiment chamber, but until then, being married is everything I never expected and more. by @salomesibonex

🧠 What comes to mind when you hear the words “public health”?

After 2020, those words bring up skepticism for man who saw them used to justify evidence-less policies, censorship, and retaliation against dissenting experts.

@integrallyapp invited me to ask Dr. Robert Malone a few questions, so I asked whether science has been corrupted by politics.

⚠️ Like @whoisrobertmalone describes, accountability is one way institutions can course-correct after making mistakes.

Humans are flawed and thus so are the institutions we build, which is why anything that wields power over others must address—not suppress—rational skepticism and criticism.

🔎 How would you answer the question I asked Dr. Malone?

To see whether Dr. Malone thinks the loss of public trust in health institutions is reversible, comment “Malone” and I’ll DM you my interview. by @salomesibonex

Everything has a life cycle, and new media doesn’t stay new forever.

Lately I can’t shake the feeling that social media feels like daytime drama TV and major network news commentary.

Is that how you become your parents? Thinking the that the things you’re consuming are still “hip” when time has inevitably made them mainstream?

That’s the virtue of remembering we still have to seek out both the older ideas and art + the newer ideas and art that exist outside our bubble. by @salomesibonex

⚖️ What matters more: trust in health institutions or individual autonomy?

@integrallyapp invited me to ask Dr. Robert Malone a few controversial questions, and this was one.

The goal was to highlight statements that deserve serious debate, not the censorship or screaming matches that usually happen instead.

💡What’s great about @whoisrobertmalone’s response is that it acknowledges no solution to a complicated problem like healthcare is perfect.

That’s exactly why we need mature, constructive debates on these issues that highlight different, real concerns and use dialogue to find a way forward.

🔎 How would you answer the question I posed to Dr. Malone?

To see what whether Dr. Malone thinks science has been irreparably corrupted, comment “Malone” and I’ll DM you my interview. by @salomesibonex

🔑 If I could give the world only one skill, it would be radical honesty—particularly the kind you direct at yourself.

It’s the best skill to uncover motivated reasoning, the thing that makes us decide what we want to believe and then work hard as hell to prevent anything changing that.

It’s the best skill for growth, because almost all growth depends on admitting you aren’t quite right about something.

It’s even the best skill for having deep, connected interactions.

Honesty is what allows you to notice you’re acting defensively or are attached to a certain outcome, both of which block presence, flow, and authentic connection.

🔍 But how do you do it? I think one crucial step is realizing that whatever honesty reveals is what you need. But that can be terrifying.

When you see yourself as something far more indestructible and bigger than an idea, identity, or expectation, you can let go of trying to get somewhere at the expense of honesty and just observe what’s actually there.

Some call it “non-attachment” or “impartiality.” Give me your biggest obstacle to it or your best tip to practice it. ⬇️ by @salomesibonex

❌ I don’t get my info on a thing from people who’ve never used the thing.

❌ I don’t learn about a thing solely by consuming activism opposing the thing.

And yet this is exactly where most of the noise about AI is coming from: anti-AI activists who’ve never used it.

These people are akin to those who opposed the car: some have real concerns but will be a blip in history because the benefits of the tech are too massive to justify opposing it altogether.

Instead, just like with the car, what matters is HOW we implement AI.

🔍You know damn well whether anything you’re doing is genuinely improving or harming you. AI is no different.

If someone cheats the creative process, they’ll eventually pay for it themselves. That’s why integrity is a value worth pursuing.

So why don’t I have AI write my essays?

🔑 Because a good essay—just like all good art—is one that best reflects my vision and creates the experience I want a reader to have. AI can’t do that.

But it can edit.

It can help organize my ideas into an outline. It can give me a rough draft based on my outline I can experiment with.

It can make researching sources and remembering some lost fact I’m trying to recall faster so that I can spend more energy on the creative writing only I can do.

📍These are the conversations about AI that creators need to be having. And they’re already happening; the people screaming “reject AI” are just very loud. by @salomesibonex

😬 There’s a lot I don’t know…

but I DO know I’m not getting my ideas about AI from the crowd who spent the last decade bullying artists for “cultural appropriation” or not posting a black square.

We’ve always adapted.

🌞 That’s why you’re here right now. If famine, disease, world wars, the internet, and smartphones didn’t end your lineage, I promise you that AI isn’t gonna finally make life unlivable.

But living from fear will.

❌We’re not tools. We’re inimitable individuals experiencing the miracle of existence.

Nothing will ever replace you and anyone who thinks your individuality could ever be outsourced doesn’t believe in their own. by @salomesibonex
