One of those days we couldn’t put into words. What started as a slow morning all turned into the best bluefin fishing we’ve ever seen when @jim__kuhl got the call from a good buddy 12 miles away. We doubled up on giants the second we arrived in a school holding over 100 fish nuking bunker 10ft from the boat. Big thanks to @gerard_faccone for staying on the wheel and ensuring we landed both fish. We went 4/5 on giants that day with fish pushing 100 inches🙏🏽

The Atlantic bluefin stock is as healthy as it’s been in a very long time, let’s hope @noaafisheries trust the scientific data and open the recreational season back up.

Big Eye Tuna aka on the HaloRick as BIG GUYS … only fish to ever bring me to tears after hooking into one 4 years ago that turned into a 3 hour stand off on a 5000 saltist. Sat under the boat at 40 ft for hours and I couldn’t lift him, palmed the spool and she broke off. Bought my first Stella that night the second I hit the dock.

After seeing serial come to the scale at the White Marlin open last weekend, knew I had to find those fish. Told Spathman to load the fuel cans for the long run east.

Found them good once again in schools holding 100 eyeballs easy. We hooked 7 on the jig with a couple double ups but lost a few to chafe leader and a spilt ring failure. Took home a dandy that tipped the scale at 174. Gonna look for that 200 once this swell blows through.

@jygprofishing Stryke and Deep got it done as usual. Im tying on the deep next trip as that stays in the stryke zone longer on the fall with 4 of the 7 bites coming on the deep 200 pink or red. I Need a restock of those things asap.

P.S. after our 5th fish, half the trolling fleet pulled in their spread and started jigging . Not sure what took them so long, Coast guard even jumped on for a front row seat to the show 🤦‍♂️😂🤙🏽. by @salt_silverbak

Unforgettable trip made even more special by having the legend @amegari onboard with us. Solo’d 2 deep water demons, one being on a prototype lure he gave me on the ride out. Paired with the new @yamai_suteki_global trebles and @silkoceanpeline pe12 both fights lasted less than 30 min.

Joined the @white_marlin_open for 2 reasons, see if we could be competitive catching tuna against the best on tournament fishing’s biggest stage and secondly, to bring attention to the most exciting way of catching tuna.

Was extremely nervous about how we’d measure up with so much at stake and told the guys a trip to the scale was all I wanted. @kp.sportfishing stuck an 81 pounder on day 1 that held on the payout board all tournament. By day 2 I went looking for the fish that would make everyone put the bluefin tackle away. Ran 270 miles within the radius in sloppy conditions and marked 5 fish all day with no bites.

Day 3 we decided to go back where we had our bites and fish short drifts. Got to my zone 2 hours before the opening bell and made long drifts to dial in on what contour lines fish were holding. @j_willfishin pulled out a 73 pounder we hope would’ve held the daily, but slid down the leader board.

@spath_man did land a 44 incher that didn’t place and I pulled hook on a fish that felt like it could’ve been the one.

None of this possible without @stevetubman entering us into the tournament and believing in us before we believed in ourselves 🙏🏽🤙🏽👊🏽

Thankful for the @white_marlin_open for being progressives and allow spinning reels with jig and pop. Hoping in the years to come more tournaments will follow their lead🙏🏽

We’ll be back next year 🎣🤙🏽

Approaching the one year mark and added just over 400 hours on the twins as we wrapped up the OBX2026 season. Thankful to all the great fishermen that fished with me and amazing local captains that allowed us in their network to locate fish each and every trip.

She’s home for some much needed TLC and should be back chasing the migration back north in the coming days

Another deep water daemon that ate the 9in @jygprofishing SWYM paired with the 6oz head. This was my second solo fish of the day and the @e_fish_entcustomrods vert giant made the fight super easy, pretty sure I had that fish boat side for a mugshot under 20 minutes. JYG and Efish will both be in Edison this weekend so check them out🤙🏽

Top of the fifth inning for our OBX 2026 season and reality is already setting in that it’ll be over soon. Less than 2 months from now we’ll be back to the ghost hunts up north, days of running 200+ miles for the chance of seeing/casting to a single fish.

This particular fish is from a recent trip with @the_bearded_angler302 and @cgrant765 when high boat traffic made for some very finicky fish, you can tell just by how tight the school is with hardly any target separation on 2D. Just one curious George out of that pack of 100s came up on the @glidetackle stick bait for my guy big D 😁👌🏽🤙🏽

fresh string on the spools and new leaders are tied on. Back at it this weekend and hopefully that waxing gibbous has them chewing 🤙🏽
