A magical evening of friends, extraordinary music and the best #Monteverdi 1610 I think I’ll hear. What an evening 🫶🥰🍾🙏.

Thank you @i_fagiolini, Robert Hollingworth, @ecse1610 and continued happy 40th I Fagiolini. Thank you @kingsplacelondon and @sam_sam_mcshane for a wonderful residency, you are a superb team. And thank you friends offstage and on, for everything - the hugs, the chats, I feel hugely privileged to walk through this unusual musical life with a set of such wonderful humans. 🤗🫶

The biggest privilege working with some of the UK’s finest brass and perc players, as well as the next generation, in memory of the legendary John Wallace at Edinburgh International Festival.

Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of supporting an extraordinary young musician, Scottish pianist and composer, @ethandavidloch , as he has taken his first steps towards a professional career.

Tonight, BBC One will broadcast a new documentary about Ethan, commissioned by the BBC and produced by Blackhouse Films.

Born blind, Ethan has navigated challenges that most of us can scarcely imagine, yet has done so with remarkable determination, resilience and artistry. The film offers a glimpse into both the person and the musician, and the achievements he has already accomplished at such an early stage of his career.

It comes at a particularly exciting moment. Ethan has recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with First Class Honours and received the Principal’s Award for the most outstanding music student in his graduating year. He was also shortlisted for the Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist Award and won the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Concerto Competition as well as many prestigious performances throughout the UK.

The documentary features Ethan’s most recent performance with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) and captures a pivotal point in his journey as he embarks on life as a professional musician.
If you can spare half an hour, please do watch and share. It’s a beautifully made film by director Martyn Robertson and the exceptional team at @filmsblackhouse

If watching it sparks ideas for performance opportunities, collaborations, introductions or ways to connect Ethan with new audiences or management, I’d be delighted to hear from you.

BBC One – Monday 13 July, 7.00pm
