“How crazy do my eyes look paddling into this wave? 👀😂
There’s plenty happening before I’m even on my feet—checking how the wave’s shaping up and where I want to go.
I actually took part in a Griffith University study looking at how surfers read waves. Pretty cool to see this GoPro angle capture my eyes at work.

Progression doesn’t happen by accident. 🌊🔥

The Surfing NSW Lab crew were putting the effort in today — pushing their turns harder, committing to bigger manoeuvres and learning how to deal with more pressure in their there heat surfing.
The focus was on creating high-scoring opportunities: choosing the right sections, carrying speed, attacking the lip with intent and finishing each ride strong. It is the small details, repetition and willingness to step outside the comfort zone that turn good surfing into excellent scores.
Epic day with the crew — great energy, plenty of commitment and lots of progression happening in the water. 🤙
