My print shop is finally live! 🎉 You can find the link in my bio.

I’ve been working on this passion project for a long time so I’m super excited to be launching it.

I’ve been asked every now and then if my photos are available as prints, and seeing my art hanging on someone's wall has always been a heartwarming thought.

My goal has been to build a website where I can offer fine art prints of high quality with a smooth experience for ordering and shipping.

All photos are taken by me during my many adventures across the globe. Check the website for the full collection, and let me know if you have any questions or special requests.

A proud moment for me 🥹 My work is published for the first time in a book. And not any book, the @accidentallywesanderson book which I adore so much. My photo ”Purple Payphones” is featured on page 87. I captured this photo almost two years ago in São Paulo, Brazil, at the food market. It was a pretty random part of the market, a corner with trash bins and payphones. A reminder that you can find colorful moments in the most unexpected places 💛💜 by @samekbatani

Ghost town - I drove 1,000 km over the course of two days on my Namibia solo trip just to see Kolmanskop.

I had seen this place only in pictures and had become obsessed with seeing what looked like something straight out of a Salvador Dalí painting. What made it even more intriguing was realizing that this was the location behind the surreal artwork for Tame Impala’s The Slow Rush, photographed by Neil Krug together with Kevin Parker.

Kolmanskop was once a thriving diamond-mining settlement, inhabited by around 1,200 people. Abandoned in the 1950s, it’s now a surreal desert landscape where sand-filled buildings tell stories of its past.

One of the most special moments for me on this trip was roaming through eerie corridors and abandoned houses with my camera.

I use the rule of thirds instinctively when photographing but also intentionally when editing. It's a composition rule that's been around for ages and that works for a reason. It brings harmony and balance to an image, and guides the viewer's eye exactly where you want it to go.

There’s a reason behind every destination. My reason for traveling has always been to explore new places and gain new experiences. But sometimes I choose a destination purely for a photographic reason, and that type of journey is just as fun

1. Namibia 🇳🇦
2. Sweden 🇸🇪
3. Morocco 🇲🇦
4. Switzerland 🇨🇭
5. South Africa 🇿🇦
6. Brazil 🇧🇷
7. Japan 🇯🇵
8. Italy 🇮🇹
9. USA 🇺🇸
10. Namibia 🇳🇦

Night photography can feel daunting, but this workflow always works for me when it comes to nailing the settings 📸

1️⃣ A low f-number is helpful, so push it as low as possible. This allows more light to reach the sensor. If you have several lenses to choose from, pick the one with the widest aperture. But remember: don’t push it so low that your scene or subject becomes out of focus.

2️⃣ Next comes shutter speed. The slower the shutter speed, the more light you allow to reach the sensor. But if you go too low, the image won’t come out sharp. The classic rule of thumb is to keep your shutter speed at least as fast as the reciprocal of your focal length, e.g. use 1/50s for 50mm or 1/200s for 200mm when shooting handheld. Personally, I recommend a minimum of around 1/100 sec as a general guideline, since you’re usually working within focal lengths of 16–100mm for street photography. This will also vary depending on how steady your hands are and whether you’re using an APS-C or full-frame camera. If you’re using a tripod, you can go even slower than 1/100 sec, but I personally don’t carry one around for street photography. Also, if you go slower than 1/100 sec, moving objects will start to become blurry - so it depends on the type of scene you’re photographing and whether you want motion blur.

3️⃣ ISO is the last thing I adjust. As a general rule, you want to keep ISO as low as possible. The higher the ISO, the more noise you introduce into the image. But don’t be afraid to increase it if needed, digital cameras are quite capable these days. It’s much better to expose the image correctly and have some noise than to end up with an underexposed image where details are completely lost. In many cases, noise can even add character to an image anyway. And if you really dislike noise, the de-noise tools in editing programs such as @lightroom have become really good.

What I see vs what I take - It’s interesting how differently everyone sees the world. Give a group of people a camera and the task of photographing the same scene, and you’ll never end up with identical results.

These are some examples of how I compose what I see. All photos are taken with a mix of my full-frame camera, different lenses, and also my iPhone. It goes to show that you can have fun with whatever camera you have on you.

Understanding how to use aperture is one of the key factors in taking control of your creativity. Aperture is the opening in your camera lens that controls how much light reaches the sensor. A low aperture (low f-number) means that the lens is wide open, which lets in more light and creates a shallow depth of field. In contrast, a high aperture (high f-number) means that the opening is narrower, letting in less light while increasing depth of field.

These are of course very rough examples, but hopefully they serve as helpful guidelines for beginners. I personally always learn better by seeing real examples.

I'm often mesmerized by the textures, shapes and patterns of nature. You find recurring themes across animals, plants and rocks. These textures are seen both extremely zoomed in or from a birds-eye view. This series is from my trip to Namibia, where many things reminded me of how beautiful our planet is.

Photo editing doesn’t have to be overcomplicated. These are 4 simple steps with the help of masking tools. I wanted to achieve a look where the dog was more accentuated with a dreamy bright fur whilst still maintaining details.

1. Global adjustments to have a better starting point, together with slight color grading.

2. Mask the dog and make it stand out more by increasing brightness whilst still maintaining details.

3. Mask the background and add contrast to create separation with the dog.

4. Mask the ground and darken together with adding some warmth. We want to create even more separation with the dog so that the eyes are drawn to the main subject.
