🎶 SUMMER MIX 2026 🌏 link in bio 🎶 by @samfalls

As the seasons change, so does Sam Falls’ (@samfalls) ‘Geological Time (Healing Tree).’ In the height of summer, the strands of semi-precious gemstones disappear into the canopy, blending with the leaves until they feel less like an intervention and more like something the tree has grown itself.

The work reveals itself slowly. A glimmer of light catches a strand of tourmaline. A cluster of beads shimmers through the branches. Then it vanishes back into the foliage. Never quite the same from one moment to the next, the installation reminds us that some works of art aren’t meant to stand apart from nature, but to become part of its rhythms. by @samfalls

Sam Falls’ (@samfalls) ‘Geological Time (Healing Tree)’ reimagines the ski resort tradition of the “Mardi Gras tree” through light, spirituality, and healing. Wrapping a living aspen near Hidden Lake Lift with thousands of feet of precious gemstones, the installation transforms a playful marker of return and memory into a meditative offering to the landscape itself. by @samfalls

Originally working with photography, Falls abandoned the medium specific tools such as camera, film, and printing over a decade ago to work more intimately with the conceptual precepts of photography – namely time, exposure, and representation. Known for his site-specific, durational works engaging nature as both medium and subject, Falls creates artworks that are primary sources of prolonged exposure to the atmosphere and environment in order to bridge the gap between artistic production and the viewer of the finished piece, carrying the ecology of a place and the history of its experience. In this new exhibition, Falls returns to traditional photography, incorporating it with his idiosyncratic processes surrounding painting and sculpture developed from working with the environment en plein air, expanding and collapsing the mediums together. On view through Saturday, May 30. taken in Chelsea, New York, New York by @samfalls

Created for the Powder Art Foundation (@powderartfoundation), an outdoor art park located on Powder Mountain in Utah, Sam Falls’ (@samfalls) ‘Geological Time (Healing Tree)’ (2026) is a site-responsive installation comprising 2,000 linear feet of strung semi-precious gemstones including tourmaline, labradorite, amethyst, and rose quartz. The work is wrapped around an aspen tree near the Hidden Lake Lift and riffs on the ski resort tradition of adorning a chosen tree with tossed trinkets from chairlifts, transforming that irreverent ritual into a meditation on geological time, seasonal change, and the movement of natural light. by @samfalls
