🍂🍁🧡THE SEPTEMBER UPDATE HAS LANDED🧡 🍁🍂

There are shiny new prints and bookmarks and (for the very first time) 📚bookplate stickers📚

I’ve worked really hard on these and I really hope you like them! They’re all on my ☕️ now 🧡🤎💛

frogs | bookplate | speciality coffee | spooky season | bookmarks | ghost barista | I see people putting keyword salad without tags at the end of their posts and I’m really curious if this actually does or means anything, so what the hey. If you’re still reading this, what’s your favourite thing about the autumn? Mine’s the beautiful squash I bought today that I’m gonna roast one day for lunch this week by @samikelsh

The final day of my ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette is Costume Day from #calmtober26 and tbh I’ve been occupied with hurriedly finishing the appliqué on this pumpkin costume (see previous post) so I had the 25 minutes it took my cauldron to finish cooking this evening to paint this, so here’s a sketchy and unlined portrait of Mister Magpie and I, a canon event that definitely happened in the park this afternoon. How did you observe this most auspicious of days?

Here’s my surprisingly medium-effort Halloween “costume” - that’s right, your spherical sewist friend is a jolly pumpkin. The jumper skews red in photos but it’s a lovely deep burnt orange, and the appliqué is a gorgeous Japanese organic cotton from @merchantandmills in the “Wellington Check” pattern. I wanted to do a matching makeup look, but since my only plans for today were a nice walk in our favourite Oxford park before getting groceries, I just did a bit of greenery with a sadly long since unavailable matte deep green lipstick from Colourpop overlaid with Slime Drip lip oil from @unearthlycosmetics for maximum spooky sparkle. Felt cute, only dripped a tiny bit of coffee down the front of my jumper. 12/10 excellent costume, this is just part of my wardrobe now

Day 29 of my ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette is Croissant Day from #calmtober26 and Clarence here is enjoying his lovely buttery pastry dunked in a very good cup of coffee. What a wonderful snack, good for you, Clarence.

Day 26 of my ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette is Blanket Day from #peachtober26 and this vampire bat is tucking in his tuckered out werewolf boyfriend. Yes, he carried this quilt all the way from home.

I thought now might be a good moment to put the spotlight on some of my previous works that fit right in with the spooky autumnal season. Hope you like ‘em!

All of these are available via the usual means, so you know what to do 😘

It’s Day 23 of my ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette, and I think we all could have guessed I’d do the prompt Transit from @badtober as the rail-based public transit station autism haver that I am. Here’s Hermannplatz U-bahn station in Berlin because I thought it was cute, and I painted this entirely while making fried rice tonight so I tried (tried) to take it easy by only using Neutral Tint and Quinacridone Gold for the whole thing, to match the station’s whole vibe. I wonder where these two sweethearts are headed today?

Day 22 of my ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette is technically kind of a major spoiler (for a 30 year old show) from Trektober, so I’ll just tell you that I think these three should have had a chance to hang out in the show.
I also slightly stole the vibe of this from the 1964 Jean-Luc Godard film Band of Outsiders, so parenthetically, now is the time for a digression in which to describe our heroes’ feelings. Ziyal wonders if Quark’s Bar can be persuaded to install an espresso machine. Ezri is wondering if the others have noticed how nonbinary her new dungarees are. Vic thinks of the enormity of life beyond the dream of the holosuite, and if he’ll ever be able to experience it.

Day 21 of my ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette sees us send some nice ladies on shore leave for Trektober. Jadz is happy to have convinced Kira to come relax and breathe in the aromatic vapours in the soothing mineral hot springs of the Hoobishan Baths on Trill, and Kira’s wondering if Jadzia means to be touching Kira’s leg. Which she can’t find it in herself to mind, to be fair.

It’s a quiet afternoon in the Boorista’s café, and they’re taking a moment to enjoy a nice pourover coffee. This one’s an heirloom Ethiopian bean with a smooth sweetness and a really lovely juicy mouthfeel. It’s one of those coffees they’ll be sad to finish once they run out of it. They’ve got milk if they feel like adding it, but this coffee is really special on its own, too.

This is available as a new print if you want to live vicariously through this sweet ghost barista and their incredibly cosy coffee shop!

Day 19 of my ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette is Basket Day for #peachtober26 and in my defense, there is a basket on their tandem bicycle. They’re bringing home some wildflowers home from their excursion, enjoying the sight of a rainbow breaking through the clouds just as the sun is getting ready to set for the evening.

On the 17th day of ‘Tober Art Prompt List No Pressure Roulette, the good people at @badtober prompted me to ask: what about me? What I want? And the answer is that I spent a good amount of time thinking of how to answer that question, whether I paint a pipe dream or something large and abstract or just acknowledging that I almost always want a nap, but then I had a meltdown when I got home from errands because I was overwhelmed by an overpowering bad perfume sample and didn’t have it in me to do anything complicated, so I decided that what I want in this moment is for everyone to know how good my outfit was today. I’m wearing a super old cotton cardigan I hope never dies because nobody makes anything as good as it in natural fibres, my wrap dress is a gorgeous @sondeflor piece, but since I’m 5 feet tall and haven’t gotten round to tailoring it to my shortness, I put a cheeky strawberry top from @lucyandyak so I didn’t flash the neighbourhood. The camera is my handy Minolta X-700, and my latte is from the superlative @newgroundcoffee and you can just about see my nonbinary Starfleet pin. And my face is tired x
