Majella: live at 00:00 up a mountain in Norway just went live on youtube.

Back in July I visited Norway and Sweden with @robin_leeps with the ambition to record a live session somewhere. When we discovered Stegastien Lookout at Aurlundsfjord, I knew it had to happen there.

Due to how busy the lookout gets during the day, we decided to record at night. Luckily, due to the high latitude and time of year, we had just enough light to film even at the darkest point of the night. We haven’t brightened this footage - this is how it actually looked.

Since we were living out of a car with only a couple of 1 man tents and our filming gear, the setup had to be as minimal as possible (in hindsight I regret not using a table as I was crouched over for the whole thing). Also, because some idiot (me) forgot to charge their camera batteries, we only had enough power for 1 take - this is that take.

My music has always felt very tied to landscape and journeys, so recording live sessions in this way feels like it just makes sense. I’m treating this as a prototype for hopefully doing a lot more live sessions in scenic spots around the world in years to come.

Sounds Like A Good Mixtape - Sam Judd [CLIPPMIX118]

UK-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Judd’s recent release “Skyline” is a bendy trip over the twilight horizon on the wings of a concord made of marshmellows! Now take a peak through the window pane and enjoy the view with a boppy one-hour mixtape. Up is down is up is UP! If Sam was a cartographer, this mix would be a map only your feet can read. Drawn in dub, 2-step, big vocal moments and experimental detours, leading deep into a forest with no marked exit and several suspicious mushrooms. The compass is useless. At the halfway point, a frog in hi-vis insists this is the scenic route. Keep moving. Keep your eyes on the skyline beyond the trees. Your feet know exactly what they’re doing. by @samjudd_

Sam Judd - Skyline [CLIPP263]

Sam Judd looked into the heavens and decided they could use another floor. Do you see what we did there? Luckily, Sam has previous experience with unconventional materials. The UK-based producer and multi-instrumentalist treats the planet like one enormous sample folder, folding recordings gathered on his travels into acceptable electronica for dance-floors, daydreams and the occasional spontaneous change in altitude.

Usually the building inspector would raise concerns: organic drums have been discovered moving through the foundations and heaving layers of sub bass line synthesis are wired directly into the lift shaft. The entire structure appears to be bordering on unstable levels of Euphoria. Gravity has now lodged a formal objection to the development, citing “unauthorised uplift and a repeated failure to remain at street level”. While we take urban planning extremely seriously, sometimes you gotta throw caution to the wind, ignore every warning, and approve “Skyline” for immediate distribution of vibe.

In Sam’s own words: “I’m inspired by how dance music can be this transformative experience. I usually put this track at the end of the set, when we’re all warmed up and having a lovely time. The long buildup is a second to realise where we are, and when it swings back in we get to celebrate that.” I guess the windows are smiling after all, and level 46 has legally declared itself a cloud. taken in United Kingdom by @samjudd_

My new single Shadows is out today on @nowadaze_records 🌞

Huge respect to the amazing @elowenwatersmusic for violin duties on this one, brought the whole thing to life!

Make your own meaning, but for me Shadows is about releasing what came before and opening to what will be. There’s been a lot of that this year.

I haven’t released in a while because I’ve been working on a new batch of music. It makes so much sense to bring this one out first. You’re gonna hear more of it very soon - like, very soon! Can’t wait. by @samjudd_

About time I posted some @feiggo clips. Me and @samjudd_ have been writing an album called Earthbound over the last year around the country in the studio van. We had a last jam in the garden today before I head back off to sea but we will definitely be making more music in the future and maybeee releasing Earthbound if I stop being so picky😂 by @samjudd_

Producer/multi-instrumentalist Sam Judd’s sprawling electronica weaves a technicolour tapestry equal parts nostalgic, expansive and hopeful. A global traveller and sonic explorer, he submerges rolling techno & jungle beats, pensive heart melodies and euphoric ambience in a wash of textured field recordings and samples captured around the world. Dubbed “etherial” and “deeply transporting”, his live sets carry the dancefloor on an immersive journey, celebrating the rich history of underground rave music at every step.

Recent sets supporting Sully, Anchorsong and Echo Juliet, appearances at festivals around the UK, and regular radio-play on James Threlfall’s BBC Introducing showcase, have cemented Sam’s early reputation as an exciting new voice in the electronic music space.
