📖 OCTOBER WRAP-UP 🎃🖤

October was a whole vibe. 🕯️

Witches, reapers, questionable characters, a little romance, and murder👻

This month was all about spooky season, getting lost in dark worlds, and finding a few new fictional characters to obsess over. Some books surprised me, some completely stole my heart, some were just OK 🖤

I'm not ready to say goodbye to October but the cozy fall reads are calling... and so are the Christmas romances 👀🍁☕🎄

⁉️ QOTD: What was your favorite read of October?

🎃🖤 HAPPY HALLOWEEN 👻🔮

Just a girl who likes her books spooky, her fictional men morally gray, and her reading time uninterrupted. 💀📖

Some girls summon spirits. I summon fictional men with emotional baggage. You know, normal girly things. 🕯️

If you need me, I'll be curled up under a blanket, ignoring the living and entertaining the dead. 👻

Here's to the last of our spooky season reads, the characters who still haunt us, and a TBR that's somehow scarier than anything else.

⁉️ QOTD: If you could summon ONE fictional character to spend Halloween night with, who would it be? 👀

GRIM TIDINGS 🌹💀
@authorbkborison

She's a reaper who's tired of death. He's a guardian on his last strike. Fate has other plans 🖤

A reaper, a guardian angel, soulmates? SAY LESS.

I loved the whole vibe of this book! The characters, the atmosphere, and the soulmate aspect all made this such a fun read.

Sometimes a book doesn't need to rip your heart out to earn five stars. Sometimes you just love the characters, get completely caught up in their world, and enjoy every minute of it.

⁉️QOTD: have you read this one yet? Would you rather be a reaper or a guardian?

Book Mail!! 📖

I can't resist a book sale, so I added one to the fall TBR and one to the holday TBR.

Manon Blackbook (my precious kindle) needed am upgrade and I think I chose well 🖤📚

⁉️QOTD: Have you gotten any book mail lately??

I'll see you all on the other side 🫡

Honestly probably won't start it for a day or two but I was so excited to see it on my kindle this morning 📚🖤

It was also time for a new Kindle case and my favorite @page.theshop had a new release just in time for ACOSH 😍

Welcome home ACOTAR besties 🖤✨️🎇

🪦RIP: Reads in Progress💀

Here lie the books I bought with every intention of reading immediately.

Cause of death? A book-buying addiction, an ever-growing TBR, and the delusion that I actually have time to read everything I own.

Not gone, not forgotten. Just continuously neglected. ⚰️

⁉️ QOTD: How many unread books are currently haunting your shelves? Be honest. This is a safe space. (Mostly.) 👀

TALLOW AND BONE | Rhiannon Hargadon @rhiannonhargadon

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — and honestly? I would give it 6.

I almost DNF'd this book and now I can't stop thinking about it.

I'm a sucker for anything involving the Salem witch trials and went into this one with high hopes. But I'm not going to lie, I wanted to quit 50 pages in.

Thank the book gods I didn't.

Somewhere along the way, this story stole my heart.

The atmosphere. The witch trials. The fear, the accusations, the injustice. And then there's the love story. 🥹

GEORGE. F*CKING. CARTWRIGHT. 🖤

I don't even know where to begin. I feel like I relate to Amity so much (and not just in the I would be sentenced to the gallows way) George. This man. The tenderness. The devotion. The way he loves her so completely, without asking her to be anything other than herself. Even when she is terrible and even when she thinks he doesn't even know her.

“My love is not a prize, doled out only when you have been good or presentable.”

I beg your finest pardon?! 😭

Sometimes there are romances that reach into the deepest, most vulnerable parts of you and make you feel something you weren't expecting.

I cried. I swooned. I kicked my feet. I sobbed at the ending.

So it was almost a DNF. Was the payoff worth every single page? You bet.

Sometimes the books you almost give up on become the ones you love the most. 🖤

⁉️ QOTD: What's a book you almost DNF'd that ended up becoming a favorite?

It's witch season, and I understood the assignment. 🧙🏻‍♀️🔮

📖 The Witch by Freida McFadden
I'm not really a fan of Frieida's books but The Witch was @two__booked pick for this month so I went for it and I actually really liked it!

I loved the witchy aspect of the story. The dual timelines and POVs made it even more interesting. I enjoy when a book gives you different perspectives and slowly brings everything together. I'm also a sucker for anything related to the Salem Witch Trials, and that's probably because they would have burned me at the stake in the colonies 🤣✨️🖤

Definitely a fun read for spooky season! 🎃

⁉️ QOTD: Do you switch up your reading for spooky season, or do you stick to your usual genres year-round?

#TheWitch #FreidaMcFadden #Bookstagram #SpookySeasonReads #BookReview by @sammijosrestrictedsection

October nights are for blankets, cozy ambience, & getting lost in fictional worlds. 🍂🖤

Currently 13% into Tallow and Bone and still deciding how I feel about it. But the reading vibes? Immaculate. No notes 📖

⁉️QOTD: How long do you give a book before deciding to DNF? Do you push through hoping it gets better?

Had such a great time at Books, Blooms, & Magic this weekend! @inbloom_at_calgogardens @boundforadventurebooks did such a great job with this one. It was even better than Spring! Over the moon that I got to meet the adorable @authormorganelizabeth on our way out! Can't wait for the next one 🖤🧙‍♀️✨️🔮📚🥀 by @sammijosrestrictedsection

ANATHEMA by Keri Lake
4.75 🌟

Okay, I get the hype. 😍

The WORLD. The MAGIC. The dark atmosphere. I ate it up.

I loved the world-building and the unique magic. I loved getting lost. It was such a perfect read for spooky season.

The romance was good too, and Zevander? I think I like him. Still figuring out just how much 🤣

Was I completely obsessed? Not quite. But did I love it anyway? Absolutely.

It was SO close to five stars, and I'm definitely excited to get my hands on Eldritch.

⁉️ Have you read this one??
