New DoP Reel!

I’m so appreciative of all the director and crew friends who trusted me with their visions and helped to realize and elevate my ideas.

I’ve spent a lot of time the last two years directing and working with animation, which has changed the way I see visual storytelling, collaboration, and team leadership.

I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned to original, heartfelt, weird, and good-for-the-world projects ahead. Hope to see you on set! by @samwsmith33

Last and certainly not least, we have wonderful filmmaker @samwsmith33 . We were taken by his film Embodied and can’t wait to share it with you all. Representing this piece at Parlor will be Associate Producer Madeline Henderson and Line-Producer Colin Sevely-Ortiz. We’ll be sending big cheers from afar to Sam!

Samuel Wright Smith is a cinematographer, gaffer, animator, filmmaker, photographer, and visual artist located in NYC. He has made it his goal to share images and stories that are both personal and universal. Smith is interested in art that blurs imagined boundaries such as us/them, self/other, human/nature and life/death.

Please welcome Sam! by @samwsmith33

Art can guide us beyond the familiar and comfortable into the fullness of our lived experience, with all of its tensions and sharp edges.

Embodied Director Samuel Wright Smith shares his unique approach of employing the softness of oil pastel animation to mediate his film subjects' reflection on end of life. by @samwsmith33
