Hey, I’m Zac, owner and builder at Sanctuary Builds.

I’ve been building things since I could hold a hammer. My childhood was spent building forts and figuring out how to make each one better than the last. Looking back, I realize not much has changed and my life has come full circle.

My professional background is in product design and engineering, which marries two things I love- great design and technical problem solving. I’ve always enjoyed taking an idea, working out the how-to details, and then getting to the most fun part: bringing it to life.

I’m a firm believer that we’re called to bless others through the blessings we’ve been given, and for me, building beautiful homes gives me the opportunity to create, solve complex problems, and build relationships with amazing people along the way. 🔥

Being named New Builder of the Year is something we’re incredibly grateful for, but this award belongs to a whole team.

Being four months behind all the other parade homes when we took over the project, the five months we had to get this home from bare dirt to finished product have been the most challenging of our lives. It took everything we had, thousands of calls and decisions daily, a lot of trusting our instincts, plenty of prayers, and more than a few miracles along the way.

There were days I wished I could be in two places at once, balancing the demands of this project with being home with my wife and our newborn son. It was a season that stretched us in ways we didn’t expect, but also taught us a lot about ourselves, our team, and our faith.

This is not an award for one builder or one company. This is an award for the 67 companies who came together to bring this home to life. Every trade partner, subcontractor, vendor, and person who showed up played a part. If even one piece of that team hadn’t come through, this house wouldn’t have been finished in time, and this moment might not have happened.

A huge thank you to the @avistudio.design team, @biaofclarkcounty, @soldbydanb, @pacific_coast_homes, all of our trade partners and vendors, family and friends, my parents who jumped in wherever they were needed, and especially my wife, who put in countless hours sourcing, building vendor relationships, and handling so much of the work behind the scenes. We couldn’t have done this without you.

This award belongs to all of you just as much as it belongs to us.

We’re taking this as a reminder to keep going, keep taking risks, stay bold in what we build, and trust the path ahead.
