This BTS clip breaks down the audio of one scene.

A percussion bed of varied samples and textures mirrors the breadth of work that the FrameRate platform is home to.

The cello performance by @jordanhamiltonmusic threads through the entire film as the consistent voice of FrameRate.

The final sound design is rooted in film scoring as a nod to the medium and its history.

Full credits and breakdown on the @framerate.tv blog.

Sometimes we see something that's so rad that we can't help but want to make sound for it. We reached out to @kevoshea22 about his reel intro and he was down to collaborate.

Sound and Music: Sanctus Audio

Here's Kevin 👇 (check out his new reel, it's killer)

The idea behind this reel intro is quite simple. It began as a memory from when I was a child and my parents bought my sister and I a Gameboy each. I adored it and for the next 6 months I played with nothing else. This short story is based on how resentful the other toys felt and their attempt to destroy this usurper.

Looks like ink. Moves like magic.

I’ve been hooked on that printed look since my days slinging ink as a printer. So when I saw @_studiovideo and @omrimal.ka drop their gradient animation, I had to make my own.

One experiment turned into many—thanks to inspiration from @kylasaurus_rex , @ecabrams , and @jakeinmotion halftone wizardry. I mashed it all together with my print brain to build something wonderfully gritty and analog-feeling.

That turned into a full process for creating risograph-style animation inside After Effects.

Then the amazing @sanctus.audio crew brought the final layer: synthy, warbly sound that hits just right.

A happy collision of people, pixels, paper, and audio magic.

A short loop to mark the shift. Spring is here. The light lingers a little longer, and everything comes back to life again. Growth isn’t loud, but it’s happening.

This delicate diorama was animated, printed, scanned, and reassembled. The process leaves behind marks that take on a life of their own, impossible to replicate and only recorded.

Is mezcal extracted from cacti that contain mescaline? That would make it a psychedelic substance, wouldn’t it? Why is it almost only produced in Oaxaca? And where does the smoky flavour come from? Also - what’s with the worm at the bottom of the bottle!?

I set out to investigate all these questions in this short piece.

I’m thrilled to launch our new podcast: The Collab Collection, where we collect stories and useful insights about creative collaboration.

Working together is humanity’s superpower but it’s not always easy. The configurations of people and projects are infinitely complex, and we find that fascinating.

So to satisfy my own desire to learn to be a better collaborator, I speak with all sorts of creative people – from action sports filmmakers to fiction editors to investigative journalists – to learn how they work well with others.

Then to share those lessons learned we distill the conversations down to compact, 15-minute or less episodes that drop every Wednesday.

For the @vuoriclothing winter campaign, we created an abstract and sound-design-focused soundtrack that showcased the textures, mood, and feeling of being out in nature with Vuori’s activewear. The sound design gives a sense of cold weather, warm motion, and tactile materials. We combine that with a sparse chord progression that helps keep the mood positive and adds a sense of building energy.

Many thanks to @kuenypearson for including us on this project!
