Rang Malwa

Malwa is not merely a place for me; it is an experience, a land where history, nature, and folk life come together.

Mandu is one of the most important faces of Malwa. It appears in my paintings not only through its palaces and architecture, but through its soil, seasons, trees, light, and memories. Rain soaked stones, mist-covered hills, and changing landscapes give Mandu a different colour in every season.

But Malwa is not only Mandu. Beyond the historic walls lies the rich world of tribal life villages, fields, forests, weekly markets, fairs, women, jewellery, colourful clothes, and everyday life. This simplicity and collective spirit have deeply influenced my work.

The identity of Malwa also lives in its small, everyday details - khursani, tamarind, local fruits, trees, markets, and village life. These are not just elements of nature for me; they are part of my memories of the land.

I do not reproduce a scene exactly as I see it. I recreate it through my memory and experience. My forms become simpler and more geometric, while colour and form move beyond reality to express the feeling of Malwa.

Rang Malwa is a journey from Mandu to its villages, from its history to its present, and from nature to human life.

Through my paintings, I try to capture not just the landscape, but the memories, colours, fragrance, and life of Malwa.

“Stillness is the ground from which all forms emerge.”

In their latest series, the artist explores the sensory experience of space, stability, and quiet duration. Built through meticulous layers of color and textured, vibrating edges, geometric forms act not as rigid structures, but as catalysts to envision.
Swept up in monochromatic depth and architectural memory, the viewer is invited into a continuous visual dialogue, shifting from rhythm to stillness and complexity to quiet balance. by @sandiphmore

Sandeep H. More

A body of work as meticulous as it is meditative. Each painting emerges from an intensive process — layered with at least 50 applications of paint — creating surfaces that resonate with depth, complexity, and a quiet intensity. Rooted in spiritual inquiry, More’s practice draws from the sacred geometry of temple architecture and the subtle energy of devotional spaces.

Guided by indigenous traditions and esoteric philosophies, his art becomes a meeting point between the material and the metaphysical. Through soft transitions and atmospheric layering — masterfully rendered in the technique of sfumato — figures, forms, and symbols dissolve into light and color, inviting viewers into a space where thought becomes stillness, and stillness becomes revelation.

These are not merely paintings to be looked at — they are thresholds to be crossed. Each work is an invitation to pause, reflect, and enter a liminal realm where the boundaries between the known and the unknowable quietly dissolve. by @sandiphmore
