Dear Partners and Volunteers,
The Board of the Sandy River Watershed Council (SRWC) is sad to announce the dissolution of the SRWC, effective immediately. Unfortunately, 2020 and 2021 were challenging years for the SRWC. Staffing losses, operation under limited funds, and the restricted conditions associated with the pandemic lead to financial difficulty. Consequently, it became increasingly difficult for the SRWC to fulfill all its obligations. After extensive review and consideration, the Board voted unanimously to dissolve the organization.
We thank all of our partners and volunteers that we have interacted and worked with over the years. The SRWC has played a critical role for many years in successfully bringing diverse partners together to protect the resources of the Sandy River watershed. We would also like to recognize all the volunteers who contributed their time and effort to help us make a significant difference to the watershed. Over sixteen thousand of you have volunteered with us since 2017.
We hope the SRWC leaves the Sandy River watershed in a better place for having been here.
Sincerely,
The Sandy River Watershed Council by @sandywatershed

😎These volunteers are extra cool for showing up under cold and rainy conditions and still managing to plant 400(!!) trees in record time 😎

Also a major shout out to our partners @vive_nw and @u.s.forestservice for all their time, dedication and effort into making these events a success. And a special thank you to @mthoodroasters for donating some essential hot coffee on this cold day!

🌱 What does a watershed scientist do? Let's tag along with Katie Holzer from the City of Gresham as she pulls out temperature loggers in Beaver Creek! These data collectors have been recording the water temperatures from May until October this year! This data collection is important for previous and potential restoration projects and helps watershed scientists, like Katie, make informed reports about the creek and it's cold water loving inhabitants 🌞

We recognize we are on stolen land. We honor and will continue to build trust with our local tribal communities. We acknowledge that indigenous peoples’ have and continue to be the stewards of this land. Let’s acknowledge the indigenous experience everyday— but we are excited for Oregon’s first official Indigenous Peoples’ Day! by @sandywatershed
