🌧️💙 Flood Preparedness Week | October 17–24

At #SAUSD, the safety and well-being of our students, families and staff are a priority. As we approach the rainy season and monitor the potential effects of El Niño, now is a great time to prepare for possible flooding and severe weather.

Families can take simple steps to prepare: learn about local hazards, build an emergency kit, review family communication and evacuation plans, and sign up for local emergency alerts.

🚨 Remember: Never walk or drive through floodwater. Turn around and find a safer route.

🍕🔥 Big ideas, bold flavors and real-world learning at @valley.hs.falcons!

Students in Chef Easter’s class put their creativity and business skills to the test, developing new pizza creations and marketing plans to help save a failing pizzeria. Eight teams competed, with a panel of local pizzeria owner Max of @maxispizzeria_sa and Valley HS and District representatives judging their creations.

Congratulations to our winning teams, whose Hot Honey Fired Chicken Pizza with sriracha-based sauce took the spotlight! 🏆👏

Appointed at the Oct. 13, 2026, Board of Education meeting, Ms. Gill brings extensive experience in legal affairs, employee relations and policy management, while Mr. Quezada-Cano brings years of experience in education, including serving SAUSD students across various grade levels since 2005.

Last night, the SAUSD Board of Education recognized student and adult representatives participating in the 2026–2027 Battle of the Books program. With 26 schools participating this year, students are building reading comprehension, confidence and collaboration one book at a time.
