A very sad loss for our family. My aunt Julie, sister of @santababycomposer Philip Springer passed away. After growing up In Cedarhurst, Long Island, Julie lived in NYC for the rest of her life. She and my grandmother owned and operated a unique toy store in Greenwich Village, “The Gingerbread House”. Julie adored her older brothers. She did not have children so she was extra focused on my sister and me. The years following my grandmother’s death were difficult for Julie. I visited her as often as possible and she loved to keep informed about her grand-nephews. RIP Aunt Julie, New York will never be the same without you. 🙏🙏💔 taken in New York, N.Y. by @santababycomposer

RIP Shelley Fabares, lovely actress, singer and Elvis co-star. Shelley recorded “Welcome Home” by @santababycomposer and Buddy Kaye. This song was a hit with the UK’s Brooks Brothers and was recorded by several other 20th century artists. Shelley was known for her sparkling appearances with @elvis - We are very saddened by this loss and send deepest condolences to Mike Farrell and Shelley’s family, friends and fans. 🙏💔 taken in Hollywood, California by @santababycomposer

Unbelievable story! A girl @santababycomposer dated when he was in his 20s called me yesterday. She is now 96, sharp as ever and will be visiting California in October from NY. She tracked me down, asked if she could visit my father. The odd thing (or not) is my dad had brought up her name a few months ago. Nancy told me about her 21st birthday when Dad took her to see “A Streetcar Named Desire” starring @marlonbrando on Broadway. After the show while most of the audience walked up and out of the auditorium, dad took her hand and went towards backstage and was able to say hello and introduce her to Marlon Brando, whom he had met at a dinner party not long before that. I learned from Nancy that dad‘s first published song, “The Candy Shop Song” written with Richard Adler (Pajama Game, Damn Yankees) was about her! taken in Ethel Barrymore Theatre by @santababycomposer

Big heartfelt thanks to @dettrinityfilmfest for the Inspirational Short Film Award at the 20th anniversary of this lovely festival. The most wonderful feedback about my father’s story is how inspired people feel after they’ve seen the film. So nice to meet festival owners @mmarshalle and @lazarlegacyliaison - I also hear “I want to know more about…” - I’m now working on an extended cut (up to 10 additional minutes) to enhance streaming options per the distributor. Diving in to dad’s world of music is an honor and so fun to get into it with comrades, editor @lucgiddens and sound engineer extraordinaire & EP @kevinrlacy 🎥 🎶 by @santababycomposer

Our hometown of 55 years celebrated the 4th of July Pacific Palisades style, with the morning 10/5K and afternoon parade back for the first time since the devastating Palisades fire burned down our homes and entire community of @santababycomposer and @morethansantababythefilm - a wonderful step in the slow disaster recovery process. Seeing friends and the community band together was truly uplifting. We are very much hoping to get back home in the foreseeable future. taken in Pacific Palisades, Ca 90272 by @santababycomposer

Happy Father’s Day to @santababycomposer - now 100 years (young). It’s not been an easy ride, but love and dedication always led the way. The best part of dad was/is his constant piano playing: daily classical concerts and his most beautiful melodies, some are highlighted in @morethansantababythefilm. Despite the tremendous recent losses he has suffered, including his beloved home of 53 years burning down in Pacific Palisades and then losing my mom, he continues to play piano, daily, compose music, and live with purpose. #fathersdayspecial❤️ #fathersday by @santababycomposer

Actor Robert Davi is a phenomenal singer and champion of the Great American Songbook. He honored @santababycomposer Philip Springer by having the audience sing Happy Birthday for Phil’s 100th and beautifully performed How Little it Matters, How Little We Know, originally recorded by Frank Sinatra, who starred in Robert’s first film. Not related to this, Robert and I (Phil’s daughter) were friendly 40 years ago in a dance class - so his highlighting HLWK is truly extra special and heartwarming! Happy heavenly birthday to forever icon Judy Garland ❤️ Judy recorded heartbroken by @santababycomposer and legendary lyricist Fred Ebb. This recording was early in Fred’s career and Judy Garland was his idol. How incredible that he would go on to create such greatness with Judy’s daughter Liza. Incredibly fun and special evening meeting @kurtdecker in person after becoming IG friends. Kurt performs Sinatra every weekend @playwrighttavern49 including Phil’s How Little It Matters, How Little We Know live… and he even brought Christmas early with Santa Baby! Dear friend @bystephanieforshee joined me, which was very meaningful because she worked for Phil for a number of years. Ending the night was a quick visit to the iconic Brill Building where Phil’s career started in 1949. by @santababycomposer
