This song has ended up being about Greek gods and goddesses, religious paraphernalia in my Irish granny’s house and redemption… and Bill Withers makes an appearance. It’s still so sketchy but trying to get comfortable playing it ….

I wanted to share in full @saoirsejuno’s video for her beautiful rework of ‘Under a Familiar Sun’.

Inspired by Rachel Carson’s description of how the sun made the earth and a wave made the moon, Saoirse created a whole new response song ‘Roaring Flame of the Sun’.

The video features the hands of dear friends and family (Sara, Lily, Calum, Rick, Max, Shea, Orrin, Carlos, Ainhoa, Ben, Jess, Juno) and the surfer extraordinaire feet of Saoirse’s brother.

It’s such a special piece. It’s on YouTube too if you want to experience it in its full glory away from the tiny screen.

My EP ‘Weighed in Green’ is out today, this is the last single ‘I’m in no rush’ which was recorded in this very spot over looking the mountains in La Alpujarra, Andalusia. Thank you cicadas for your continuous snare drum roll hisssss.

Listening to this brings back wonderful memories of the time we spent in a little house in Bayacas, looking after tomatoes, swimming in the acequia, making weird music and being together. It was magic.

I feel incredibly grateful for that time.

Thank you for listening and for all the support and encouragement you’ve given me to follow what’s in my heart and bring these ideas from a back drawer in my head into the world.

Thank you Sam for helping me make this song feel like it went sub-marine for a few moments before coming back up for air. Thank you @limalimorecords and the very supportive family there @loa.band @calumjduncan @thevernonspring @p_h_i_l_v @ideophone_music @adenniye xxx by @saoirsejuno

I’ve had an instrumental piece I’ve been working on for a little while and then yesterday some words came! These are inspired by and also dedicated to Phillip Pullman and all you panpsychists out there.

Going to be doing some recording in the garden this week and hopefully this one emerges out of the rustle🍃🍂

Collaging the beautiful @limalimorecords community to celebrate the release of the Volume 1 compilation just out.

I was very happy to contribute a piece to the collection… it’s a bit of a meandering stream of a song but you do get to slide down a waterfall at one point.

All Volume 1 proceeds will go to the brilliant @thesameerproject, an organisation led by Palestinians in the diaspora who are doing critical work to source and distribute food, medicine and shelter to families in Gaza.

Thank you for beautiful artwork @pierodibiase and masters @technologyworks by @saoirsejuno

A little video I made for Sam’s @thevernonspring magic rework of my piece ‘I’m in no rush’ ✨

When I heard Sam’s version it made me think of floating hands and seeing someone on a silent, slow motion fairground ride from a distance.

Enjoy

Sam @thevernonspring has woven his magic and made a very very beautiful re-work of my song ‘I’m in no rush’ which is out today, in this universe, on @limalimorecords - thank you dear Sam for drawing out the delicate, shape-shifting nature of this piece.

Here we are between the laundry, basketball net and apple tree… there’s a good metaphor for life in there somewhere.

Sam says:

“Within Saoirse-Juno’s freely improvised synth layers in her original version of ‘I’m In No Rush’ I could hear the potential for a piano-led version and felt excited to have a crack at it! All of Saoirse’s music has this infectious, carefree and explorative quality to it that I find deeply inspiring, and it was a gift to be asked to make a version of one of her pieces. I love her and her music so much.”

Some of the photos I’ve taken of scapulas (my favourite bone) and vertebraes over the years feature in the latest @limalimorecords Springboard zine ⚡️⚡️

All the zines are available to buy now on bandcamp. They are a beautiful collection of interviews, art works, poetry, graces, and sheet music from the @vernonspring.

The latest edition includes a 🪐🪐🪐 interview with @bintmbareh, a passionately hand picked playlist from the @limalimorecords community and friend’s favourite 🎸 solo tracks, poetry from @adenniye and more.. so much more.

Thanks to Juno’s skeleton 🩻 for featuring in these photos. The bones that hold us up and hold us down.
And to @pierodibiase for all your design work that goes into putting these zines together. by @saoirsejuno

This song is out a year today! Thank you @limalimorecords friends @loa.band for trusting me to shape their beautiful song into a new imagining.

@limalimorecords is such a wonderful community of friendly ears and open hearts..

I accidentally layered two different bits of the song here, universes colliding, happens all the time.

I’m looking forward to sharing another collaborative piece 🌱 next month! by @saoirsejuno
