Beautiful class yesterday at Brighton Youth Centre!
I'm really excited to announce that we'll have two more classes at Brighton Youth Centre next week.
Then, on 30th July, I'll be teaching our final goodbye class of the summer. It will be a special 90-minute class, and I'm really looking forward to sharing it with you all.
If you love to dance, move, or simply explore your body through movement, come and join us!
A huge well done to everyone who came for the first time yesterday. You picked up the material incredibly quickly! I'm genuinely impressed by your body's and mind's ability to absorb quite complex movements so fast.
Well done, everyone—I can't wait to dance with you again next week! 💛

What a fantastc night of ecletic music from @shobekband and @ahrtemisia put on by the nicest people at Brighton Electric Studios. Special thanks to @e__golay and @kimb0nes on sound and also to Jennie who's not only just the most awesome drummer but also makes the most delicious samosas and carrot cake - Thanks Jennie - we wouldn't have sung so well without you! As always I was enjoying the music too much to think about getting my phone out to record the other acts - doh! So please do check them out.

This is a another clip of The Colour of Amber, a song close to my heart as it's a traditional song from my hometown of Brighton and was collected from the extraordinary Romany singer Mary Ann Haynes by sound recordest Mike Yates. He recorded her in her living room in St James's House, a '60s highrise block on High Street, Kemptown built to house Brighton residents after the final phase of Brighton's slum clearances. This building is however, now scheduled itself for demolition since it no longer meets safety requirements and many of the current residents are now anxiously waiting to be rehoused. I've often thought Mary Ann Haynes ought to have a Blue Plaque as do so many of the previous residents of Brighton's grand regency buildings - it seems now it may sadly be too late. She certainly deserves to be remembered for being custodian of so many fine and beautiful songs that I will always be grateful to have had the opportunity to sing and share with others.

It was such a pleasure to share the stage as ever with @astrachan69
on trumpet and keys as well as members of @brightonfolkchoir and Ben Board, leader of the wonderful Bees Mouth Folk Choir

Practicing my arrangement of ́The Colour of Amber' with members of @brightonfolkchoir today for my gig THIS SUNDAY @brightonelectricpresents with @ahrtemisia and @shobekband . I'll also be joined by @astrachan69 on trumpet and flugel horn.

Incidentally The Colour of Amber is a traditional folk song from Brighton, collected from the legendary singer Mary Ann Haynes in 1974 who lived on High street in Kemptown. The song has never been collected anywhere else.
