It’s finally here!! Islam & Print presents LANDLINE, a multimedia group exhibition featuring contemporary Muslim artists whose diasporic identities are shaped by memory, language, spirituality, and connections to the natural world. Guest curated by Safiyah Cheatam, the exhibition brings together works that explore the enduring ties between homeland, heritage, and belonging through sculpture, printmaking, textiles, and other media.

“How to Help Yourself,” 2026 by Safiyah Cheatam (@saphicles) is available and ready to be bid on today!

It’s a 11 in x 17 in risoprint with image transfer of paper and ink on paper. This artwork is framed and ready to hang.

Cheatam is an award-winning artist and museum educator based in Baltimore, MD. Her multidisciplinary art practice is dedicated to portrayals of Mundane Afrofuturism and uplifting Black Muslims in the U.S. through archival media. She has exhibited in galleries throughout Maryland, including The Peale (Baltimore, MD), VisArts (Rockville, MD), BlackRock Gallery (Germantown, MD), as well as at Washington Project for the Arts (Washington, DC), and New Media Caucus (Ann Arbor, MI). In 2026, Safiyah was commissioned by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture's (NMAAHC) Center for the Study of African American Religious Life to create artwork for the museum's inaugural Ramadan iftar.

Cheatam’s work has been supported by the Grit Fund (2025), Washington Project for the Arts’ Research (2022) and Project (2023) Grants, Waller Gallery’s 2023 Studio Fellowship, VisArts’ 2021 Fleur and Charles Bresler Residency, and Robert W. Deutsch Foundation’s 2019 Rubys Artist Grant. And she has been featured in The Washington Post, NBC News, BmoreArt, and the Baltimore Beat.

Proceeds support Afro Charities’ 2027 operating expenses — the staff salaries, archival supplies, and public programs that help us bring the AFRO Archives to the public.

my sweet, sweet girl of 12.5 yrs passed away yesterday 🖤 new girl had been my best friend since she was just a few of months old in the winter of 2013. she was funny and feisty. she was so brave and strong in the last month of her life. new girl loved to sit on laps and hated kids. she was a repeat offender of sticking her paws in people’s water. she loved cat tv, chicken churu, cheez-its, and taharka bros ice cream. she didn’t like being picked up or having her paws touched. new girl enjoyed jazz music and watching tv. she lived in 4 homes w me where she slept in the crescent of my stomach. new girl is now buried somewhere I can visit her everyday. inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un 🫶🏾 by @saphicles

Thank you to our 2026 Guest Speakers & Critics! This is the second year that they have each returned to speak with our cohort, chosen for their valuable insights on artist career development and sharp eye for growth-centered critique.

@artauntie_ founded Waller Gallery to uplift art created by people of color.

@terimhenderson granted I&P its first press mention in her review of “What Happens When We Nurture” in the Baltimore Beat.

@ziplockshorty participated in the inaugural I&P fellowship cohort and has since produced more works on paper. by @saphicles
