We’re excited to present “Return to the Source,” a group exhibition on reconnecting with land, textiles, and poetry featuring the 2026 Islam & Print cohort Shiraz Abdullahi Gallab, Waad Husein, Katie Shlon, and Aurora Suryah. This exhibition is curated by Dan Flounders and Safiyah Cheatam, and will be held at Wallery Gallery with an opening reception on Friday, November 13 at 6–9 p.m. On view through Saturday, December 19, 2026.

Founded in 2022 by Dan Flounders and Safiyah Cheatam, Islam & Print is a Baltimore-based biennial printmaking fellowship dedicated to championing diverse Muslim experiences, building an archive of prints, and supporting the professional development of emerging visual artists. Through collaborative printmaking opportunities, Islam & Print expands access to screen-printing while fostering a regional network of Muslim artists working across disciplines and traditions.

Had a truly fun year of art. Still ended up being so busy and full despite intentions of having a slower year. Grateful for it all. 🫶🏻
Enjoyed my time at @marylandinstitutecollegeofart this summer with @yemonjapaints and @dirkjart courtesy of the Joshua Johnson Council at @baltimoremuseumofart! Really got to push the ante and explore material and form in building a home. I cannot wait to learn more in the future 🤓

Had the absolute honor of leading the Through Our Eyes teen photography program at @thewaltersartmuseum. Shoutout @saphicles for thinking of me. The kids are so bright! Had no idea I’d enjoy teaching so much!

Also got the chance to showcase at @lewismuseum for the Sondheim ‘26 Semifinalists show. Beautiful beautiful beautiful ♥️

Islam & Print presents LANDLINE, a multimedia group exhibition featuring contemporary Muslim artists whose diasporic identities are shaped by memory, language, spirituality, and connections to the natural world. It made my heart so happy that many of my beloved people showed up for the opening of show LANDLINE, wonderfully curated by @saphicles at the @umdartgallery . It’s a dynamic group of artists, pls visit and see the show. Curator Tour is set to happen at 4 pm on Sept 24. That will be a great opportunity to see the works and gain perspective. Congrats DMV artists! ‘Mending Grace; to stitch a soul with thread’ was created for my MFA show 2026 @micagrad @mountroyalschoolofart earlier this year and now being shown @umd_art @umdartgallery . We love this exchange and support between art institutions in the DMV! 💕❤️ . Look forward to seeing many more!
