Celebrating Holi (India’s most colourful and chaotic!) festival in Jaipur was of the most unforgettable experiences of my solo travels — and now it’s one of my favourite bylines!

From the joy and solidarity of strangers to the challenges of navigating safety in the crowd, it was one of the most unique and memorable days of my life!

So to see it splashed across the cover of The Sunday Times Travel is something I’ll be forever grateful for 🌸🎉

My first bookstore signing and I SOLD OUT! 🤯

Thank you so much for having me @cafebooks, it was such a nerve-racking yet wonderful experience getting to meet and interact with fellow book lovers. People were so kind and genuinely curious, it was a truly great afternoon.

1 mountain, 3 races, 82km, 3 days and 4000m elevation gain!

First ultramarathon ✅
First stage race ✅
First alpine & ridgeline run ✅

I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the toughest challenge I’ve ever done. I did NOT train for this event. Not even a little bit. I’ve had two herniated discs in my lower back, and a tear, since March. But I couldn’t stop wondering - ‘what if I just tried….? If I don’t finish it I don’t finish it. But what if I just rocked up, trusted in my baseline level fitness and did everything I could to finish the 60km without hurting my back further’.

And yeah - that didn’t quite go according to plan. Instead, I showed up on the Friday and on a whim decided ‘ok screw that. If I’m gonna be here I may as well try and do all 3 days of racing, not just the 1 day (the 60km)’.

SOMEHOW I pulled it off. It wasn’t always pretty, and it was almost ALWAYS painful. BUT, I’m STOKED! First ultra! Woop woop!

For anyone that hasn’t done the Golden Ultra, it’s absolutely beautiful. The views, that incredible ridgeline that made 35km of uphill and 2500m of elevation gain worth it, the never ending snacks, the atmosphere, and the amazing support from volunteers and organisers and runners is out of this world.

There were truly only a few moments during the three-day event I truly questioned my decision to be there (all in the last 10km of the 60km race on day 2), but every single other second I just felt so privileged and grateful to not only have a body and mind and the means to be able to take part in the event, but to be so blessed to get to be witness to the beautiful spirit that ultra running seems to bring out in people. The ear-splitting cheering, the crowds at the finish line waiting hours and hours just for the last runner to cross, the wheezing “well done you got this” from the competitor you just passed, and the massive smiles from the life-saving volunteers at each aid station, and medics, and organisers. I was just BLOWN AWAY by it all and I can’t believe how lucky I am.
