Pies should be messy and lovely and juicy. This peach pie by @alisoneroman is a gem…as is @alisoneroman.

I highly recommend putting a fork on top of the pie holder and taking a bite each time you walk by.

Some views from a very full and wonderful family (all 11 of us) trip.

Santa Rosa Beach was a gem. Our Mother Earth is a gem.

Grateful for big morning breakfasts while crowded at the table. Grateful for family trekking 600+ miles to the beach. Grateful for frozen, boozy drinks. Grateful for pre-bed dance parties. Grateful for a week of togetherness. by @sarahbarnett_21

I picked #thesecrethistory as my book club pick this month. I hosted the ladies last night. We had two chickens roasted in spiced hay and citrus. The citrus perfumes the chicken entirely and makes the most amazing moist flavor. I dry brined them for two days. I was impromptu yesterday listening to the secret world of Bennington podcast. I zested as many lemons as I pleased . Added extra shallots and was generous with all of my herbs. The stuffing for the chicken is a mixture of herbs from the deck lemon thyme , English thyme, rosemary, and parsley and lots of duck fat. I know I'm a cheater but it is falling off the bone even today! So pleased with this version. I thought we'd do some indulgent Dionysian level grapes (which I planned to roast and forgot in the oven for several hours!) lots of dark cherries (with pits)and then honeycomb and crackers I was craving so I bought what snacks I wanted to eat. I made some anchovy butter for the baguette. A salad with fennel and a local honey Dijon sort of dressing. Always a lively discussion with this crew! I can't say the black and tans went over well (perhaps, a case of prosecco would be better! ) but I liked them! Half @lagunitasbeer IPA and half @guinness . My fridge now looks like a frat house ! 🤣 We ended with my salted honey icecream with dark chocolate and bourbon in teacups. taken in Lexington, Kentucky by @sarahbarnett_21
