POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I picked #thesecrethistory as my book club pick this month. I hosted the ladies last night. We had two chickens roasted in spiced hay and citrus. The citrus perfumes the chicken entirely and makes the most amazing moist flavor. I dry brined them for two days. I was impromptu yesterday listening to the secret world of Bennington podcast. I zested as many lemons as I pleased . Added extra shallots and was generous with all of my herbs. The stuffing for the chicken is a mixture of herbs from the deck lemon thyme , English thyme, rosemary, and parsley and lots of duck fat. I know I'm a cheater but it is falling off the bone even today! So pleased with this version. I thought we'd do some indulgent Dionysian level grapes (which I planned to roast and forgot in the oven for several hours!) lots of dark cherries (with pits)and then honeycomb and crackers I was craving so I bought what snacks I wanted to eat. I made some anchovy butter for the baguette. A salad with fennel and a local honey Dijon sort of dressing. Always a lively discussion with this crew! I can't say the black and tans went over well (perhaps, a case of prosecco would be better! ) but I liked them! Half @lagunitasbeer IPA and half @guinness . My fridge now looks like a frat house ! 🤣 We ended with my salted honey icecream with dark chocolate and bourbon in teacups.

2024, I feel like you were the kinda the “hold my beer” year following 2023.

While this year came with another slew of obstacles and trials, out of it came so many blessings. 2024, you showed me just how tough I am. You taught me how to stand up for myself and do what’s best for me and my family. You taught me that trust is something that must be earned, and that self reflection is always the first thing that should be done in a moment of distress, and the value in extreme ownership.

You reminded me how AMAZING my friends and family are. That people want to help and lift us up when we are down. We cannot thank our village enough for the support this year, we truly couldn’t have made it without them. You brought Josh and I closer by breaking us down to our bare selves and confronting our imperfections. You showed me how in a moment, everything can change for better or worse. You continued to show me how true joy is something to be treasured and vulnerability is never a weakness. You affirmed how great our God is, and that nothing, absolutely nothing, is too far gone or damaged for His grace and redemption.

2024, I really think you had satan on your side in trying to break me. But, I am here to say that I didn’t handle every moment perfectly, heck probably not even most, but as I sit here and reflect on the past year, I can say I was constantly reminded of how truly blessed I am to live this life I have been so graciously given. And I cannot wait to see what 2025 holds!

Well, I can no longer say “i’ve never ran a marathon in a thunderstorm with extreme lightening and thundering, and torrential downpour…” 🤣

Thankful for my lifelong bestie @sarahbarnett_21 and the many memories we have made and continue to make! This weekend was definitely was one for the books!

And thank you to my amazing hubs for standing out in the awful weather to cheer for us coming through the finish!
