I had an amazing weekend at @londonfrocktails meeting up with lots of like minded sewists. I feel full to the brim with friendship and sewing inspiration

Fantastic venue, beautiful people and outfits and proud to have curated the dance floor playlist 💃🏻 🪩 what can I say the dance floor rocked all night

Thank you to the @londonfrocktails organisers @sewthreadbear @susanyoungsewing @ooobop @offshesews for an amazing night and @sewing_in_spain for organising lunch and breakfast

Lastly thank you to @morrissews for taking the first photo , risking her knee health to get the angle JUST right so I actually look tall in the first shot 😂😂

I finally got to wear my outfit to a wedding and what a fantastic day we had

I loved wearing my me made outfit. I’ve questioned whether I should have made a dress but this is very much my style and I felt comfortable and relaxed wearing it

The fabric is the main event and I absolutely love this @fabricgodmother satin. It has fabulous weight so it hangs well and doesn’t cling, as some satins do. I fell in love with the colours and striking floral design. It unusual for me as I tend to go for ditsy florals normally

The final photo is me with the beautiful bride and groom

Summer pj’s finished just in time for autumn 🤷‍♀️ what can I say I’m ready for summer 2027

I was gifted this lovely jersey fabric by @dogsinstitches_and_me it’s a beautiful quality jersey perfect for sleeping in

I only had 1 metre and knew I wanted to make shorts and a top so had to choose my patterns carefully (details below) There wasn’t enough fabric to pattern match but I’m happy with how they both look

This is my unlikely entry for #sagamseasonseptember challenge run by @sewing_in_spain @whendy7 and @suestoney I mean apples 🍎 are autumnal 😀

Following on from my weekend post I DID finish my top. Unfortunately 10 minutes after taking the photo with my beloved I was taken horrendously ill with sickness and vertigo. It has been a rough week seemingly living life on a carousel going full speed🎠

Saddest of all, we missed the wedding 🥲

I will photo my outfit once I’m a bit better but thank you to the lovely people who’ve messaged wanting to know if I completed the top

Sorry if I’ve missed people’s posts this week. I’ve not been able to look at a screen, tv or book but have discovered the joys of Radio 4

We finally managed the Epley manoeuvre yesterday (treatment for Vertigo ) without dire consequences 🤢 which has improved things slightly ( I’m now living life as if on the deck of a rolling ship 🙈)

We’re going to a wedding today so Im attempting to make this top in the next 4.5 hours to wear 🙈

I’ve only known about it for 8 months, knew exactly which fabric I wanted to use and that I wanted a coord

Which patterns to make proved the stumbling block 🙈

I’ve just hemmed the trousers and am getting started on the top. I’m a very slow 🐢🐢🐢 sewer, not cut out for the Sewing Bee time challenges so wish me luck 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 by @sarahcsewing

A few details about my white t-shirt and a photo of the best jersey neckline I’ve sewn to date

Pattern @namedclothing Inari tee which is a tnt pattern for me. Perfect length for my height and can be made from a small amount of fabric

Fabric : a remnant of cotton jersey I picked up from a swap table. It’s beautifully soft and lovely to wear. It has 4 way stretch so I could cut out the pieces where they fitted

This is my entry for #ohscrap26 run by @cinnamondaisystudio as it’s made from a small remnant from someone else’s make. I literally had scraps left over 🎉

My son recommended Fame Sick by Lena Dunham, her recently released memoir

Having never watched Girls, her hit TV show , the only things I knew about Lena Dunham were
- the press are/ were obsessed with her fluctuating weight
- she has endometriosis

Plus this is a memoir without photos ( something I love to study in autobiographies ) so I didn’t expect to engage with it

What I quickly discovered is Lena Dunham is an excellent writer and within the first chapter I was hooked. It didn’t surprise me to learn she was only 23 when she was commissioned to write, star and direct Girls. But this early fame, the responsibilities it bought and the effect on her health are the subject of the book

I had a rollercoaster ride with my feelings towards Dunham and the people in her life. As my son says, she’s a complex person. However, I found it a fascinating read. It emphasised how double edged success and fame are

It also reminded me just how much we achieve in our 20’s and early 30’s armed with ambition, boundless energy and a willingness to say yes to something and then figure out how to do it 😃
