What a terrific meet up with the fabulous Ronda @AnakieQuilter to view the #100PlusHeartsProject ♥️ at the Brisbane Craft and Quilt Show. She really is as nice as I imagined.

Ronda was a vision of red and hearts and her Queen of Hearts crown is an apt touch!

What a force of vision and hard work she is in her fight to raise awareness and educate about women’s heart health. This is all done out of her own pocket.

The 220 piece quilt is vast, colourful, diverse and poignant with the individual stories painstakingly added by Ronda on the reverse side.

Viewing this was a real treat. I’m so pleased that @SewOver50 was able to assist in promoting this project and total respect to the ambassadors worldwide.

I found some people I knew so I pointed & tagged them, & of course I could have spent hours finding many sewing friends too!
You’ll see my smiling face a few times. 😄

Congratulations Ronda. The world needs to see this piece of work. 👏 👏 👏

After a tiring but amazing Friday afternoon at the Stitch Festival, we grabbed an M&S tea and chatted all things sewing with my sewing housemates ☕️🧵

I was SO excited for Saturday at Stitch — I got to walk on the Stitch stage for Maison Fauve 🤍 What an incredible experience! Not only were they so generous in gifting us all our fabrics and patterns for the occasion, but they also let us choose a pattern from their new collection ✨

We had the best time — it all went by way too quickly!

One of the best things about instagram is the people you meet. @sarahcsewing and I met years ago at #sewupnorth and have remained friends. When she said that she wanted to make #soiluludress as part of her #makenine2025, I suggested we did it as a sew along using instagram video messenger. Last month Sarah gave me a nudge and the last few weeks we have got together, drank coffee and sewed the odd seam.
The dresses have both turned out really well and I can see, mine at least, getting worn a lot over the summer, probably with leggings. I added pockets on a whim and if I was making it again I would probably do the same. We both thought the neckline would be cute with a tie rather than a button- so that might be for next time.
I honestly really love this type of buddy sewing- you can sew with literally anyone in the world!

I had the chance to join @londonfrocktails last weekend and I wanted to share some details and pictures of my outfit. The pattern of the dress is self-drafted, based on the pattern that I made during the @iam_patterns pattern making class. The fabric is an Indian blockprint from @maasa_switzerland which was actually a gift from my husband. The dress is fully lined with a dead stock cotton from @landed_in_zurich_fabrics which gives the dress its structure and drape.

It was great to meet so many sewists in one place. There was actually only one who I met before. I had the chance to spend an afternoon with @eleni_sews in Athens drinking coffee, chatting and discovering some great fabric stores and it was a pleasure seeing her again.

I got my ticket for @londonfrocktails back in March and I promised myself I wouldn’t leave my dress until the last minute… So, naturally 48 hours before leaving I was running around my flat, panicking as I had not a clue what to make. I had a dig through my WIP’s pile and I found my first #DDMagnolia toile from last year, which got hidden away when the front didn’t fit. I decided to try the pattern again after a few adjustments.

I did a small bust adjustment of 1cm on each piece, and I also took about an inch out of the neckline to help counteract the gaping. The finished result fits me so much better and I even managed to get the invisible zip in without too much trouble.

I can see this pattern becoming a staple in my wardrobe. I’ve got so many ideas of different versions, and it’s a pretty simple construction so comes together really quickly.

I couldn’t resist sharing some of my favourite pictures from a fantastic evening, thanks again to all of the organisers for putting on such a wonderful event.

Are you sick of all my London spam yet?

I will be honest, these little squares have become more like a diary for me. It’s less about posting what I “should” be doing and more about keeping a journal of my sewing adventure (with a lot of life adventures thrown in too!). I love scrolling through and seeing what I have made or days out I’ve had with the family. It makes me smile ☺️

So I am sorry if you are sick of all the photos and videos of my time in London, but I know when I look back at these photos I will remember the love and friendship and laughs!

I had a great time at the @theknittingandstitchingshows in the #AllyPally with these girls. I am so annoyed I forget to get photos with more people I met for the first time IRL (especially Victoria @little.rosy.cheeks and Lucy @trend_patterns who I feel like I have created true friendships with over the years on these little squares) but there is always the Belfast show in November for more catch ups. (I probably would have remembered to get photos had I not been suffering from Frocktails the night before 🤭)

Phew! We are home after six days in London, the primary purpose of which was to attend #LondonFrocktails, and to meet up with sewing pals old and new 🥰
.
There were people there from all over the world, who have met in the safe space of this online sewing community! Congratulations to the tireless organisers @susanyoungsewing @sewthreadbear @ooobop and @thatlenaking (who are probably tireless no longer) and thank you all for a fantastic party! 🎉 These are just a few of the people I met and chatted with, but evidence is limited!

It certainly didn't disappoint, as you will be able to tell from all the smiles, but as I have been so slow in posting, I'm sure you've all seen enough pics by now. I have apparently also used up my tagging allowance, so I will split what was going to be one post into two!!
