My job as a therapist isn’t to make people feel less.
My job isn’t to take away pain.

Even though, there are absolutely human moments when I really wish I had that power, I don’t have much control over that.

I can’t change the fact that a family member is sick.
I can’t go back in time and erase the trauma that you endured.
I don’t have the ability to lessen the grief that you’re in.

However, I can be with you in your feelings.
I can help you to also be with your experience.
I can help you to understand your feelings, yourself, and the world around you.
I can help you to bear it.
To hold the load you are carrying.
I can help you to tolerate the challenges and to build the strength that you need to get through it.

That’s powerful too.

As a therapist, I often reflect on the profound and unique nature of the therapeutic relationship. It’s unlike any other—rooted in boundaries yet deeply human. While my role is professional, at the core of the work is a human-to-human connection, which is non-hierarchical.

Some clients might initially assume that my care is somehow ‘manufactured’ by the nature of the therapeutic relationship, but the reality is far more personal. In the human-to-human connection we build together, I naturally grow to genuinely like/love and deeply care for each of my clients.

I care deeply for my clients, not because it’s expected of me, but because the process of bearing witness to their stories, struggles, and triumphs naturally fosters that care. Being trusted with someone’s inner world is a privilege I don’t take lightly, For me, it’s impossible not to develop real affection and respect for the people who allow me to join them on their journey.

Therapy is a space where I show up as both a trained clinician and a fellow human being. This connection is a part of what makes psychotherapy so meaningful to me.

Therapists are human, and we are never “fully baked.”

Consultation is one of the ways we stay reflective, accountable, and growing.

I am so grateful for mine.

Sometimes, the world simply wasn’t built with you in mind.

Exploring your neurotype can be the beginning of setting down the blame you’ve carried for so long. It allows you to see yourself with more compassion instead of judgement.

We can help you. If you are exploring a late Autism or ADHD diagnosis, or simply beginning to understand yourself through a new lens, you do not have to navigate it alone.

At Nido Individual & Family Therapy, we hold space for exactly this kind of becoming. Click the link in our bio to reach out!

At Nido Individual and Family Therapy, we talk often about how therapy is a space where you do not have to shrink, apologize, or prove that your pain is “bad enough.”

Yet many clients still arrive with a familiar and heavy feeling.

Guilt.
Guilt for taking up a spot on a therapist’s caseload.
Guilt for investing money or time in themselves.
Maybe even guilt for having supportive parents or partners who help pay for therapy.
Guilt for not believing they are “struggling enough” to deserve help.

But we’re here to remind you that you are allowed to be here. You are allowed to make strides. You are allowed to receive care even when it feels unfamiliar or undeserved.

You never have to apologize for being human. You deserve a space where you can unfold without shrinking and where your healing is honored, supported, and welcomed.

For those who’ve been told you’re “too much.” Or maybe you’ve spent your life trying not to be.

This reminder is for you. 🤍

I wanted to create a place where you can come back to yourself. A place where you can be fully you, without having to hide, shrink, or pretend to be someone you’re not.

Here, we celebrate what makes you unique. The little quirks, the differences, the parts of you that make you who you are.

You don’t have to be less of yourself to belong here.

Whether it’s the scheduling, the idea of sitting across from a stranger and saying the thing out loud, or you just can’t afford it yet, you somehow can’t justify booking one right now.

Here’s your gentle push: therapy is an investment not only in yourself, but also in your career, relationships, and your future.

You are worth the investment, too.

Save this for when you need the reminder. 🤍

In a world of plug-and-play therapy, of constant AI-generated images, and status-quo care, we’re still choosing something pretty simple: to actually give a shit about you, your story, your context, your needs, and your humanity.

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is the relationship you build with your therapist. We believe care should feel human, and responsive. by @sarahfinchtherapy

Whether you feel uncomfortable, emotional, confused, or even disagree with your therapist, it’s a safe space to feel what you’re feeling without needing to apologize or explain it perfectly.

There may be moments when you find yourself wondering why certain patterns keep showing up, why some relationships feel difficult, or why past experiences still affect the way you move through life.

Depth therapy creates space to slow down and look beneath the surface. It’s a process of exploring your experiences, relationships, emotions, and patterns with curiosity and honesty.

You may find this kind of work meaningful if you’re looking for a deeper understanding of yourself, want to feel truly seen and understood, or are ready to explore what may be underneath the struggles you’re experiencing.

Ready to understand yourself on a deeper level? Reach out to @nidoift to learn more about depth therapy.

You don’t need the “right” words to ask for help. 💛

For many neurodivergent people, the world can sometimes feel louder, more demanding, or more exhausting than others may realize.

You may experience emotions deeply, communicate differently, or need support in ways that don’t always look familiar to others. And that’s okay. 💛

This World Suicide Prevention Month, let’s remember that prevention also means creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be themselves, reach out in their own way, and know that they are not alone.

Send this to someone who needs to hear this.
