POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve made this summer! I’m learning how to sew and really enjoying it. The ability to get lost in a process for a day is really helpful for my anxiety—I love to lock in lol. I can see how much better I have gotten just over the course of a few projects, and hopefully will keep adding to my skills. Still knitting too :—)

What should I make next!!!!!!!

1. Liston dress in @fableism fabric from @blackbirdfabrics
2. Scrappy sweater pattern by @pickyfemme in @spincycle_yarns
3. Philo top view A by @julesmsmit and ninni culottes in @merchantandmills (I rly love their cotton-linen blends)
4. Coorie poncho
5. Craft studio tee from @matchymatchysewingclub
6. Fabric also from @merchantandmills via @the.sewing.club and will be making a matching bottom cuz I have enough leftover!
7. Philo top view C (didn’t make the pants but I DID hem them)
8. Pleat top by @alamain_studio in @blackbirdfabrics lawn
9. Another philo top view a!
10. Another ninni culottes also in @fableism and a me made knitted top in cotton linen yarn by @sarahgreenstudio

Happy jewish new year! Lots of reflecting is front of mind right now, which feels appropriate for the holiday and for autumn.

This image is from a project I’ll share details for soon, but it’s also a redraw of my old high holidays illustration. Also, the IG grid hates all my horizontal comps but I don’t think I care much these days lol by @sarahgreenstudio

Ok ok a #memademay post! This isn’t everything I’ve made this year, but rather some highlights I haven’t shared!

Tbh I’ve been in a bit of a knitting rut, or maybe rather just a drawing mood? I’ve reconnected with my sketchbook practice a lot over the last year which has shifted some of the time I used to devote to knitting and I just slowed down overall.

I think there’s just natural ebbs and flows to any creative outlet! For a while I was able to like….make a whole adult sweater in a week and was going VERY fast, but that did lead to a bit of burnout. So in retrospect a break has been needed!

I have some wips I’m very ready to finish though, and also some plans to expand my sewing skills, now that summer is here and I’m not teaching til the fall.

I’ll also do a round up of all the sewing I’ve done at some point, and a Japan recap, etc etc blah blah blah

I have so much I wanna say about #mermay and a particular project that has been like a long hug with my inner child……..but still can’t quite yet!

Here’s some sneak peeks though! :-)

Trust that much of my brain has been in mermaid mode for a while and will continue to be!! 🧜‍♀️🐟🐙🦀🐚

I’ve been deeeeeep in book development all year, which means I don’t have much new finished art but have been working a lot and have a ton of sketches.

I’ve been having fun slowing down and just drawing!! Normalize sharing your silly sketches :—)

Here’s one I like that definitely feels a bit autobiographical if you know me and my cat, Goose by @sarahgreenstudio

I love the freedom of working digitally, but I also am really missing tactility. I’ve gotten really controlled with photoshop, so it’s time to embrace some roughness again! I need the balance.

I’ve been creating some traditional pieces and playing with materials over the last few months, but haven’t really documented much of it since it’s still exploratory.

But here’s an illustration of a silly little lake monster that has been popping up in my sketchbook for a while. Using mostly neocolor II, watercolor + pencil by @sarahgreenstudio

It’s book birthday time! The book I illustrated for @christyottavianobooks @littlebrownyoungreaders is out today!

Written by Jean LS Patrick and @pepemaria9 herself, this is a really wonderful story about what it takes to pave the way for others and follow your heart. It was an honor to illustrate!

I pushed myself in new ways and compositions on this project, and most importantly had a lot of joy doing it. And this is my 13th picture book! Still gotta remind myself. More than ever, I feel very grateful to get to make books and tell stories. Please check it out!

I’ve spent the last couple of months really embracing the mode of development—slowing down, staying loose, and moving between sketchbooks and digital and traditional.

I’ve got a few book plans I’m excited about, including this sketch, so I thought I’d share it! I think it’s more important than ever to share process these days and to “show our work,” like it’s a middle school math test. (Cuz, as ever, f AI)
