May 2nd. 8 am. Gentry Center.

In less than 24 hours, I will walk across the stage as an HBCU graduate of THEE Tennessee State University. This journey hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned so much about myself despite several bumps along the way.

My freshman year, I didn’t know what to expect. I was a small-town girl who came from a predominantly white school, wanting to experience something different. I was scared. But my fear could not define my destiny. What once felt like a foreign place turned into my second home.

I thank God for placing me at TSU. These past four years have broken me down, built me back up, refined, and shaped me into the woman I am today. And for that, I am grateful. I’ve met people I’ll cherish for a lifetime that are beyond just friends, but are true inspirations. Thank you to my parents for being there for me every step of this journey. I do it for y’all. The growth never ends, but this milestone is monumental. 🐅💙

Country girl turned city.

I did it on a full ride. With Honors.
