This past weekend, different generations of Florida State Volleyball came together, and I found myself thinking about all that one decision has given me.

Years ago, I took a leap of faith and left Hereford, Texas to become a Seminole. I knew I was coming to play volleyball. I couldn’t have known how much that choice would shape my life.

Sport gave me people to grow alongside, challenges that helped me discover who I was, and a place to belong. It gave me memories that still make me smile and relationships that reach far beyond competition.

Seeing so many generations together was a reminder that each of us carries a piece of this program—and this program stays with each of us.

I’m so grateful for Florida State Volleyball, for the people who helped make it home, and for that young girl who took the leap.

My sweet girl. Happy 12th birthday, MRP.

All the things they say about the firstborn daughter ring so true. Twelve seems a little unfair—in some ways, my mama heart has a hard time accepting it, and in others, the number doesn’t quite measure the maturity and grace she already carries.

She is thoughtful and conscientious, always looking out for others, with a heart rooted in gratitude. My lover of organization, sports, skincare routines, ASMR and, of course, candy.

This season with her is so beautiful. We get to cheer her on while watching her navigate a little more of life on her own. I’m holding on to shopping for glow serum together, finding the perfect outfit for her first middle school dance, and all the sport moments in between.

But more than anything, I’m grateful that at 12, she still wants her mama to tuck her in at night. I’ll hold on to that for as long as she’ll let me.

There’s something powerful about being in someone’s corner.

The spotlight belongs to the student-athletes and coaches—the ones doing the work, chasing big goals, navigating hard days and becoming more of who they’re meant to be. But what a privilege it is to get a front-row seat to it all. To encourage. To challenge. To celebrate. To remind them who they are when they need it.

Today, on the first day of class, I kept thinking about the idea of the “cornerman.” The person who may not be in the ring, but is invested in the fight. Their goals matter to you. Their growth matters to you. They matter to you.

These Noles—and the coaches I get to work alongside—mean so much to me. And I’m realizing more and more that while I hope I’m helping them become who they’re meant to be, they are shaping me, too.

That’s why days like today MATTER. A new semester. A fresh start. Another opportunity to pursue meaningful goals alongside people who matter.

Time. Sweet, slow time. 🌊☀️

A full week to press pause before a new school year begins.

Sunrises and sunsets. Daily squishy trades. Endless pool time. Sand masterpieces. Hours spent crab hunting. Fresh seafood and ice cream. Belly laughs. Barefoot adventures. Time with Granna and Pops.

The kind of vacation that reminds you the best memories aren’t found in a schedule—they’re found in simply having the time to be together.

Now it’s back to school, routines, and all the goodness a new season brings. But we’ll hold onto this week for a long time. 🤍 taken in 30A by @sarahreyne13

Grandma & Papa Camp 2026 🤍

What a week.

These four soaked up every second with their cousins while Grandma, Papa, and Aunt Erin filled their days with endless fun. Pool swims multiple times a day, ice cream with just about every meal, and the kind of belly laughs that only cousins can create.

Meanwhile, Daniel and I got a little camp of our own—beach volleyball in the pouring rain, pickleball, two dinner dates, and an entire movie from start to finish. (Parents of little kids know what a luxury that is. 😄)

Everyone came home with full hearts, tired eyes, and memories we’ll all be talking about for a long time. So thankful for family who loves our kids so well and creates traditions they’ll never forget. ❤️
