When we crossed the decade mark of staying in Ahmedabad, I thought we would be living there forever but life had other plans and here we are! We just completed 6 months in Mumbai and it’s starting to slowly become home for us!

We have developed a muscle memory around this house and the evening rituals are same as we followed in Ahmedabad! At twilight, we go around switching on the many lamps (the plan is to get more) scattered around the house. Also, light an incense by the window so that the sea breeze can bring the fragrance inside without much smoke while Alexa is playing a random selection of slow, calming songs.

PS: Frame TV’s are like artificial plants when you want greenery but the society doesn’t allow plants in the balcony! Now we live with Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne etc depending upon my mood. 😅

PPS: The couches are on their last leg of life. After multiple upholstery changes & repairs, they are ready to go away. We need to find ways to save the new sofa from becoming a trampoline by Suveer. 😅 taken in Mumbai - मुंबई by @sargam_4

Yesterday went shopping for an upcoming wedding and the memories of sarees worn in the past flooded me!
I don’t wear sarees too seriously meaning I hardly use safety pins to secure the pallu. Infact in Ahmedabad i didn’t have a full length mirror in my room to check the drapery but every time it looked okay, all guess work and total ease! by @sargam_4

Sounds of Amdavad!

Before living in Ahmedabad becomes a distant memory, i want to dig deeper in my phone gallery and put things out here! Ofcourse the city where we have spent a decade can’t be forgotten that easily but time exists differently here in Mumbai. Before I get some semblance to the day here, the day is over! Maybe it’s because it’s just been 4 months or maybe because time works differently here.

In the four months of living here, i have already gone to Ahmedabad 6 times! Yet, every time i am leaving to city to come back home, i feel a bit melancholic!

1. Children & Adults on a Columbus ride at Vastrapur lake.
2. Women at leisure in a park right night to my apartment.
3. Preparation of red chilly powder at Asal, Paldi-Ahemdabad.
4. Baby langurs will always remind me of my younger son, Suveer!
5. Genda at Champa because it’s a zoo!
6. Exchanging pleasantries with Kaalu right outside Champa because i run a ZOO!
7. Red chilly powder anyone?! If only you could smell the aroma!
8. There’s a crow which visits us in the backyard at Champa and croaks sitting atop the chikkoo tree. Every time it visits, we get customers!
9. While waiting in my car at Nehrunagar circle.
10. The peepal tree in our neighbours compound at Champa attracts lots of birds.
11. Windy day as seen and experienced from my apartment window. Sometimes i miss this house but definitely not miss the constant repairs & maintenance it needed.
12. Garba night at a friend’s wedding!

Trip #5 to Ahmedabad since moving to Mumbai to check on @studio.champa ! This was the first trip where I finished a lot of work which was on my agenda. Met friends and ate lovely things also. Came back exhausted but immensely satisfied!
