Wow, what a turnout at this year’s Queer Market! 🌈

The organizers and volunteers at Calgary Pride put together such a fantastic show, and I’m honestly overwhelmed—in the best possible way—with warmth and gratitude.

The feedback, support, and response to my work truly filled my heart. ❤️

Queer fam came through like a giant loving rainbow embrace. 🫶

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, connected, shared a kind word, and supported us. What a beautiful community we have! 😊

So happy to mentor my friend Jody, a Cree Artist, on her first official mural project! ✅️

She designed a beautiful and colourful scene for the Okotoks Municipal window mural. 🌈

Assembling a proposal package is not an easy task.There are so many details and moving parts.

I drew this LGBTQ-Themed design for a previous mural project which didn't happen. The title is 'Queertopia 2.0'. 🌈

Sometimes the new generation forgets that folks like us came out in the 1900s. Way before it was cool or safe. Way before our fantastic allies got our backs. 🩷

Fun fact: You can't make someone gay. Despite being completely immersed in hetero propaganda, while growing up, I still came out queer as f%$k! Nice try straights lol, but I prefer being my authentic self. 😉

The good folks at the Millican-Ogden Community Association recently reached out to see if I would refurbish this colourful community mural for their 70th anniversary this year. 🎉

Hard to believe this mural was painted twenty-two years ago! It has truly stood the test of time, holding up remarkably well through decades of Calgary weather. I'm grateful that Zev, the president of the community association, reached out to help keep it shining for years to come.

Back then, my style was intentionally simple and accessible, with flat shapes, bright colours, and fun characters that young volunteers could easily help paint. I had also begun experimenting with pointillist techniques in certain areas, which volunteers quickly embraced. 🎨

As an artist, it's intriguing to look back and see that earlier version of my work still holding its own. It's also a reminder of the journey itself. The younger version of me would be so pleased to see how far my artistic adventure has gone, and how resilience and determination carried me through the many obstacles along the way.

Many things AI can't provide is the lived experience behind the work: the growth, frustration, discovery, experimentation, and countless hours spent developing trust in your own abilities. Those lessons come from showing up year after year, continuing to learn, create, and challenge yourself.

For me, that's always been the goal—to use art to make the world a little brighter, more hopeful - as well as being a safe space for me to connect through imagination and wonder. 💚
