I was this close to giving up — right before everything turned 180° 🪃

I closed a beloved dance chapter in 2022 and forced myself to start over: pursue new goals in new styles, find a new home base, build my own path, and grow in ways that scared me. I knew it would take everything in me to build my own journey, but I was determined.

It wasn’t easy.

I threw myself into new circles & experiences until I felt worn down — just staying afloat, wondering if I was getting anywhere. Winter 2024: at my lowest, I started whispering that maybe some dreams didn’t have to be chased anymore. That voice felt so convincing, but it's clear now that it wasn't the one I should've been listening to.

By Spring 2025 everything shifted. Things finally clicked in my body and I just "got" it. I cried for a week straight, releasing a build up from 8 years of dancing. A sweet relief that things finally made sense. I could viscerally smell and taste that things were changing--I was changing.

After that, opportunities came at me: meaningful projects & performances, and the courage to audition for a crew I’d been watching for five years.

Now it's Fall 2025 and I'm training with said crew AND I just danced my first battle. A most surreal milestone ☑️ Now I get to say: ✨ I DID IT!!! ✨

Shit is still hard--new challenges, but I'm dialed and in the zone. So excited to reach the next check point.

We're going up. It's our moment.

🫣 First homework assignment of this crew year is to post a video of ourselves labbing and playing with the concepts we've learned so far in @higherground_dance
I chopped up my session into a couple vids:

💫Slide 1 - Sound on pls! Suuuper quick explanation. It's the tldr version of this new chapter in my life. I had a turning point in May and can't wait to share the journey. Things are brewing

💫Slide 2 & 3 - Freestyle lab session:
Working primarily on orbits. AKA the 360 degree areas surrounding us with orbit 1 being within self, and orbit 4 being out of this world. And whenever I remembered, some variations of running man, bk bounce, wop.

📓Reflections of this exercise: I easily forget to separate the layer of energy levels once I'm working on my orbit (or grooves). Also, how can I get clear, non sloppy movement if using low energy? And to follow that, how can I not slow down tempo when using only 10% energy?

Maybe these questions can help your dance too!

You know I'm a Summer lover. But every year I think, “Maybe I could actually learn to enjoy Autumn.” Then I step into the sun and start sweating like it’s July, move two feet into the shade and suddenly I’m wishing I brought a scarf. 🙄
Apparently my body does not believe in transitional seasons (literally said this in the spring too!).

So, once again, I give up. I accept defeat. 🤷🏻‍♀️

2025 felt like a sports movie training montage— gritty, uphill, solo adventures. It was a year of starting fresh: new communities, goals, and skills. The grind of learning to walk again. It wasn't comfortable, but I was locked in.

I've been through this kind of determined grind before, but my growth is in how I show up differently in the lows. There's trust that every step, even the setbacks, is progress. I find peace in the failures and learnings, and damn, that feels good. ✨

I hibernated from Dec 2024 and almost quite literally talked to no one 🧊😅 (please don't take that personally! It's just one of my seasons) Finally awoke in March of this year and went full steam for 2025:

• Awakened my spirit via @itsbrittgood 's @begoodprogram & the amazing ppl I met
• Seized meaningful performance opportunities
• Deepened growth with @sov.apprentice & @sovereign.corp Crews
• Battled through a bad skin reaction for months & never ending wrist injury
• Put in hours of solo dance training
• Learned to dance with my full mop of hair
• Had the best summer weekend with my besties
• Auditioned for and made it into a dance crew I’ve admired for years
• Discovering who I am as a street dancer in that crew
• Finally dyed my hair pink
• Immersed in Montreal’s Street Dance culture at the JOAT festival and witnessed iconic moments
• Checked off a bucket list item: entering a dance battle
• Put in hours of gym training, saunas, and self care just so I can do those aforementioned dance goals
• Fell more in love with me and all the shit that comes with being me 😭

A stripped down reappearance of Ms. Harley from a look I put together in 2020, but this time with pants👖(a rarity for this costume)😂 Additional tattoos and accessories weren't back this time, but I documented my original debut of this costume 6 Halloweens ago and all the detailed DIY work I put in, but as usual never got around to posting those. We'll see if you get to see it eventually 😘

The Summer I didn't wear pants. Everyone's posting Fall photos, but here are some of my summer fits from the blonde era. Because this Queen 👑 takes her damn time 💁‍♀️

1 - Bathroom at Meo-- A Seductive 1980's Hong Kong 🇭🇰 vibes Speakeasy. "In The Mood for Love" anyone? 😍
Also, I know this was summer, but gosh it was fall weather that day. This would typically be an Autumn fit for me.

2 - worn to my highschool reunion. Want to get this skort in every colour! Perfect mini skirt look from @americaneagle that actually covers my butt! What a game changer

A fun little recap of my time at the Kimchi + K-Food Festival! What a fun way to experience Korean culture 💖 I really appreciated the quality of vendors and I didn't have to break the bank to fully participate. Most things I did (and loved) were free!

It was so easy as I literally walked off the SkyTrain at Lougheed and directly into the hanbok experience. Can't wait to come again next year!

Dying my hair to fun colours has been the plan for 4 or 5 years now 😜 but when I went full bleach out blonde, I just loved it so much we hit pause. Had a few great years living life like my favourite icons (Barbie/Sailor Moon/Baby Spice) But finally I said go--And oops, here we are now 🤭

I expect to make tweaks to the shades as we go along to find my perfect fit, but enjoying the new colour transformation 💖 it's nice to know blonde will always be there for me 🥹
Curious to know what in the kpop demon hunter colours could you see me trying?
