It’s a funny thing seeing your idea come to life… latest creative director / director work for @knucks_music When I first heard this song, the message spoke with me heavily. Everyone knows my first name is a bait English name, but I do have a Nigerian name (Folorunso). And I remember being young and shying away from my Nigerian name 🤦🏿‍♂️. A lot of Africans faced assimilation challenges tbh, I never went as far as claiming 🇯🇲🤣 but there were times when people would ask me what it was and I would say “nah that’s not for social settings”. Looking back on it now, it feels dumb because my identity is for every setting I’m in pls lol. Anyway I love the poetic ending of this song that speaks to themes of cultural acceptance across Knucks’ whole album. Very mature body of work and I’m happy a played a part (-people it is “a part” not “apart” don’t let the English language beat your bum like this) in the visual storytelling of it. Unfortunately for me (and for everyone involved), I envisioned this track in a busy Lagos market - Big mezzop 🤕. 2nd instalment of the creative direction for Knucks’ return. Had a lot of fun doing the creative and building the story behind these visuals. When I first heard @knucks_music Goldtooth (ft @blaqbonez ), I wanted to tell a story of “rags to riches”… and I was going back and forth with myself on how to do that in a Nigerian setting that was unique to Knucks identity (and the gold grillz he’s known for). My first full project as creative director for a music project just went live. Can’t really explain what it means to see this out in the world, especially given the amount of work I poured into it everything. The video for Cut Knuckles explores the experiences that sharpened @knucks_music into the man he is today and was the first visual chapter in the rollout. It’s def been a challenging but rewarding process to lead the creative direction across the treatment, narrative, styling, and rollout vision.
