Honestly, it’s probably for the best that they keep quiet about the 1900s dinner parties...

Over 160 years of secrets, spirits, and stories at 11 W. Gordon Street! 🏡✨

Nestled right on Monterey Ward in Savannah’s historic district, this stunning 1858 residence holds a lifetime of fascinating chapters. Master architect John S. Norris, the home’s early days buzzed with life under Reverend Charles B. King and his wife, Anna Wyly Habersham, who raised a massive family here while the Reverend doubled as a local minister and private tutor.

Fast forward to the 20th century, and the house took on a medical legacy. From 1906 until 1960, it was owned by Dr. Jabez Jones, who used the space not only as a home for his family—including his wife “Fannie Mae” and son Spencer—but also operated his medical practice right out of the building. After Dr. Jones passed away in the home in 1960, the property eventually transitioned through the decades, seeing legendary local preservationists like Mary Lane Morrison and her son Mills Morrison take stewardship in the 1970s.

And yes—your memory is spot on! 11 W. Gordon Street also became well-known in modern times as a part of Savannah’s boutique hospitality scene, serving as the former Historic Midnight Inn / Midnight Garden Inn, sitting just steps away from the iconic Mercer Williams House made famous by Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil!

From 19th-century tutoring and resident physicians to literary history and Downtown family living, this home truly encapsulates the soul of Savannah. 🌿🗝️
