A reminder of our Wivenhoe ‘Planet Earth’ Library Day tomorrow Saturday 28th September. This is part of a countywide Libraries Day of Action, aimed at highlighting how public libraries are vital local centres of free books, free computer access, free objective advice, knowledge and learning. Planet Earth is the essential topic, relevant to us all – adults and children.

See the poster below for the events, plus, listen out for shanty music and the Hoolies. There will be bugs, slugs and all kinds of fascinating things to examine; plus free leaflets to take away. WIVHOGS (http://wivhogs.blogspot.com/ ) has kindly supplied a display on how to save Wivenhoe hedgehogs. Children – look out for the giant tiger and penguin pictures and the Wild About Wivenhoe activities! Face-painting too!

We are delighted that we have 2 local experts coming:
12noon - 1 pm Chris Gibson will be there to answer wildlife related questions https://www.chrisgibsonwildlife.co.uk
2pm - 3pm Richard Allen will be bringing his telescope, binoculars and sketchbooks http://www.richardallenillustrator.com/ by @save_our_libraries

From Saturday’s @guardian. Essex County Council are bullying communities and groups into taking on libraries - without consulting library users or residents. Volunteer run libraries are unsustainable and do not offer proper library services. They are closures by stealth by @save_our_libraries
