“Protecting our environment means protecting our neighbors. I’m grateful for the incredible advocates at Save the Alewife Brook for their continued work to eliminate sewage pollution, safeguard our local ecosystem, and build the cleaner future our kids deserve. I’m looking forward to partnering with them and with leaders at every level of government to keep moving the ball forward.”

In October, Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) officials presented multiple options for addressing combined sewer overflows (CSOs) in the Charles and recommended adopting the option that would result in the largest increase in sewage discharges to the river.

Following a wave of public outrage, the MWRA Board of Directors has tabled a scheduled vote on the proposal at its November 19 meeting.

NOW is the time to make our voices heard and demand the elimination of CSOs in our waterways.

Join us in person (at ‘Just A Start’, 430 Rindge Ave, Cambridge) or via Zoom to discuss sewage elimination plans in the Charles and Mystic rivers and Alewife Brook.

Hear presentations and a Q&A. We hope you'll join us! Link in bio by @savethealewifebrook

TONIGHT SUNDAY 7 PM Alewife Community Zoom Meeting

https://savethealewifebrook.org/2024/12/02/save-the-alewife-brook-community-meeting/

Great news: the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is asking for mitigation measures in the next five years. And MassDEP demands a long term solution plan.

Terrible news: MWRA is fighting it. They say it’s too complicated. But we know that there are opportunities for solutions to the problem of untreated sewage pollution flooding.

Please join us tonight to discuss big opportunities for achievable solutions! LINK IN PROFiLE by @savethealewifebrook
