These are the hopes and wishes of children in Gaza.❤️‍🩹

For 3 years, they have endured war, hunger, displacement and a severe lack of healthcare.

They cannot afford another lost year.

Palestinian children need a definitive ceasefire, access to education, healthcare, nutrition, protection services and safe spaces now.

🚨 New policy paper!

Child poverty is one of Europe’s most persistent challenges, with nearly 1 in 4 children at risk of poverty or social exclusion in 2025.

And despite the EU’s commitment to lift 5 million children out of poverty or social exclusion by 2030, there has been no net progress towards this target since 2019.

This means that, on average, around 2,800 children would need to move out of poverty or social exclusion every day until 2030 for the EU to meet its target.

The European Child Guarantee provides a framework for action, while the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) provides a critical source of investment.

Our new paper shows that where funding for child poverty is protected and clearly earmarked, this directly supports real improvements in children’s lives and can help make investments more visible, predictable and accountable.

This needs to be protected in the next EU budget #MFF.

"We're really defending a right, and that right is the right to participate, the right to express our opinion," says Ana Paz*, 17, a child activist living in the Peruvian Amazon.

Children are leading climate action where it matters most.

These young activists from the Yahua Indigenous community are helping to protect their floating community on the Itaya River, where seasonal flooding endangers infrastructure and livelihoods.

Through Save the Children's Generation Hope campaign, delivered with INFANT, they're raising their voices for climate justice, planting native trees, and restoring riverbanks to strengthen biodiversity and community resilience.

One year since the ceasefire agreement, more than 1,400 people have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, nearly two million still need shelter, not a single hospital is fully functioning, and 1.4 million face crisis-level hunger.

A year on, the pattern is unmistakable. Families are still being killed. Children are still dying of preventable illness. Gaza is still littered with unexploded ordnance. Homes lie in rubble that cannot be cleared, and aid cannot reach the people who so desperately need it.

This is not what a ceasefire was meant to deliver. Killing and deprivation must not be normalized.

🚨 One year after its agreement, the ceasefire in Gaza is in name only.

The suffering continues, with Israeli forces killing and injuring Palestinians daily, and ongoing blocks to the entry of lifesaving aid, medical supplies and other vital repair equipment and building materials.

❌ This is not a ceasefire.

The killing and deprivation in Gaza must not be normalised under the cover of an agreement.

The international community’s responsibility does not end with an agreement on paper.
