OK this is a really niche reel, but Imma post it anyway for the Caribbean-Americans in San Diego. Otay Farms Market in Chula Vista not only has delicious handmade tortillas made with lard (or coconut oil if you prefer a vegan version) but the PLANTAINS! It’s so frustrating when you buy plantains that are green and you have to wait to ripen them or the pale yellow ones in most supermarkets. This is for my Jamaicans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans - you know what’s up

No trending audio, no fancy quotes… I’d been thinking about something poignant to post on the United States of America’s 250th birthday, but what I’ll say is if I have to be in the USA, I can’t imagine being anywhere else than San Diego. May Gray in San Diego had me in my feels and I finally made it over to @fuzzcoffee - I love making coffee drinks at home, especially iced coffee but it was nice to step out and enjoy a beautifully curated space with vinyl and good beans 🫘 Lots of pups and their attendants dropped in that day as well. Highly recommend taking a look at their Fuzz Faves list - I enjoyed the Crumbling Castle, a smoked maple cappuccino of sorts 🍁 taken in North Park by @savoryexposure

Strolled through @visitoceanside to see a downtown that’s going through a metamorphosis and ducked into a few hotels @theseabird and @missionpacifichotel. Beautiful places to stay near the pier. Can’t wait to explore more 😊

After ten months I finally made it back to the city (and country) that’s only 20 minutes away. There’s a lot of new spots that have opened up but I stuck to my old haunts. My espresso fizz from @pichinoscoffeeandcrew, mariscos from @ottosgrill at @telefonicatj, beer from @insurgentebrew and a bit more beer at @teoremabrewing. I’ll try some new spots next time I’m sure as TJ is always changing. If you’ve got any recs, let me know!
