I had the opportunity to do a commissioned piece, to create something that would tie other artworks together.

I was interested in making something that you could actually feel. Not emotionally, necessarily. Although, ideally if I brought something to surface then that’s cool too. But I mean physically. With your hands.

So I called it “Feel the Mountain.” Yeah, I know. The title is doing absolutely nothing to disguise what I’m going for here. 🙄😂

Musically inspired by The mountain by @kttunstall

I was looking at early 2000s patterns and textures, but wanted to keep the materiality of the actual environment intact. However, I wanted there to be this sense of metal running through the mountain, like something industrial or artificial had become part of the landscape. Something that didn’t necessarily belong there, but somehow did. Perhaps another inspiration of what today’s world feels like in environments that have been here long before us but have changed over time.

I love the idea of looking at a surface and having this response where you can imagine the sensation of it against your fingertips. Perhaps, inspired by the visually impaired humans around me. Texture is such a strange and beautiful thing.

I wanted it to change depending on where you were standing, so that it wasn’t just one fixed image, but something that kept revealing itself as you moved around it.

Anyway, I think I managed to get somewhere close to what I had in my head.

Not bad. Not bad at all. taken in Art studio by @saylorjae

“There’s this idea that the Paralympics is a ‘less-than’ version of the Olympics or that because it has people with disabilities, we must have it easier, or it’s easier to do, or we don’t work as hard. That’s so untrue. In Paralympics, the ‘para’ portion stands for parallel to or equal to the Olympics. We need to have more conversations around the Paralympics and increase its visibility. That’s something I’m passionate about.” — @saylorjae

It’s OFFICIAL!!!! I’m going to Cortina, Italy, for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games!!

I keep revisiting these snapshots of my younger self, all bundled up and gliding through the snow, and every time, there’s that rush of freedom that hits me right in the chest. I practically lived among the mountains, chasing that feeling, but back then, I didn’t have the words to define it. The mountain was my sanctuary, understanding me in ways the rest of the world failed to. Skiing was my voice. Loud without a single word, moving without the weight of anxiety, a space where I exist without saying I’m sorry.

There’ve been countless moments between that little girl and who I’ve grown to be, each one shaping me in ways I never expected. But through it all, I always found my way back to those serene, snowy peaks and the crisp mountain air.

I’m gearing up for my first Paralympic Games. It feels surreal, like the dream that little girl held onto, but it’s real now. I reflect on her often. I had no clue about the fierce beauty and pain of this journey. But something deep within wouldn’t let me quit.

This year has absolutely thrown me into the deep end in ways I struggle to articulate. Battling several challenging personal experiences while pushing to perform at such a high level. Not hitting the marks I set for myself. From the outside, it might not look as such, but it feels akin to recovering from a physical injury.

Just the other day, I broke down, calling my mom, pouring my heart out about how overwhelmed I felt. She reminded me of a survival story while I was still in her womb — that resilience was in our blood long before I took my first breath. And then she said something: “Just try. Just go and try.”

So, I’m gonna try. And you’re all going to watch. by @saylorjae

The last several months have been a kind of private reckoning.

Heavier than expected. I’ve been carrying a lot, putting down a lot, learning what supports me and what drains me. Sifting through the parts of me I’ve outgrown and the parts that are waiting to be reclaimed.

There’s a certain relief in disappearing for a while. In letting the world go on without your digital shadow. In realizing you don’t owe anyone a performance of your becoming.

I’m easing my way back (whatever that means).
Not returning with fanfare, not promising consistency, just following the instinct to share again, as irregularly as the tide. To create because something in me still insists on making beauty out of whatever I’m living through.

I can’t say I missed this space - because I didn’t.
But I do enjoy the strange little currents of humanity that flow through it: the art people make, the honesty they spill, the humor that cracks you open when you least expect it.

So if you see me in your internet world, it certainly wont be polished or algorithm-friendly.
It’ll be pieces of my ski season, don’t worry.
Maybe my artwork.
Definitely random fragments of things I find beautiful, haunting, and oddly human.

In my own little corner of the internet.

We caught up with @saylorjae before ski comp szn officially begins. The Paralympics are around the corner & we’re sending her our full support to make the games 🍀🙏

We asked her favorite + least favorite part of having spina bifida, and she ended up giving us the perfect Thanksgiving wrap-up 💙🙌

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
So here’s something real.

I’m currently, and have been, navigating depression.

Not “was.” Not “used to.” Am.
While operating at a high level, staying disciplined, showing up, executing.

The performance doesn’t erase the reality.
Mental health doesn’t disqualify you from excellence. And excellence doesn’t exempt you from struggle.

Both can exist. Both do exist.

It’s not something I see talked about much—especially in ski racing.

so here I am talking about it, because why not?
