Can you be at your best and still feel your worst?

There’s an expectation that reaching the goal should come with happiness — that the biggest moments of your career should also be the best moments of your life.

But achievement doesn’t make someone immune to depression, anxiety, or the full range of what they may be experiencing internally.

Saylor O’Brien speaks about the space between what a moment looks like from the outside and what it can actually feel like to live through it.

The Other Side with Saylor O’Brien is out now. 🎙️

Representation is more than putting a woman on the poster. It’s giving women a voice in the rooms where ideas are shaped and decisions are made.

Discipline is putting in the work even when you’re tired, unmotivated and nobody is watching.

Two weeks of training camp with the team is officially in the books. The season is getting closer, and I’m already feeling strong but there is still more work to do.

I love pushing my body and discovering what I’m still capable of. And yes, I’ve been incredibly blessed, with parents who taught me how to work and siblings who pushed me to be tough and disciplined.

But those blessings only become something when you honor them with the work.

The early mornings. The sacrifices. The relentless hours. The days you don’t feel like doing it, but show up anyway.

That isn’t luck. That’s discipline.

Final push. Let’s work. 👊🇺🇸

Episode 1: Great Salt Lake from Above

Thank you to @ecoflight for taking the @usskiteam @ussnowboardteam @usparaskisnowboard athletes on a flight over Great Salt Lake!

“It is an absolutely massive body of water, it’s going to have a big effect on lake-effect snow.”

-US para snowboarder @rightfootedjoe

Great Slat Lake provides 5-10% of the snow in the Wasatch, and up to 60% of the annual precipitation in the Salt Lake Valley.

As the lake shrinks, so does Utah’s iconic powder.

Saving Great Salt Lake means saving our snow!

𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿.

Without lower body contribution, every bit of power, directional change, and stability relies on the trunk. If your athlete cannot effectively produce and resist force through the transverse and frontal planes, they cannot ski fast.

Here is why we work these specific planes:
🔄 Trunk Rotation: Fuels the transverse plane mechanics required for aggressive double-poling propulsion and generating torque out of turns.
↔️ Lateral Flexion: Dictates frontal plane stability. Essential for edge control, managing off-camber terrain, and dynamic balance adjustments.

This Block’s Exercises:

1️⃣ GHD Lateral Flexion for time (with chaos): Builds isometric endurance in the quadratus lumborum and obliques under unpredictable perturbation.
2️⃣ MB Rotation into Flexion Throws:
Multi-planar movement teaches the core to transition seamlessly from transverse to sagittal torque.
3️⃣ Dowel Rotations with Band Tension:
Builds high-tension end-range control, targeting deep spinal stabilizers through accommodating resistance.
4️⃣ KB Pendulums-Seated Shot Put Throws: Maximizes ballistic rotational power output from a fixed pelvis. (Inspiration stolen from @ashleykowalewski ) 🧠

Train the movement patterns that translate to the snow. Drop a follow to catch the rest of the Slayor Series. ⛷️
