I wrote this op-ed for @theneedlenews ! If you want to read the full thing it will be on my story and highlights.

This issue is deeply troubling to me as a trans person living in Idaho. When things like this happen it’s easy to feel helpless and lost, even if you aren’t a trans person in Idaho. I find channeling that energy into organizing in my community helps me manage those feelings. I can only hope this puts pressure on some local outlets to actually care about our community, but either way it was healing to write.

On Saturday November 22nd, I, along with 30 other people, was arrested at the Krome Detention Center while peacefully protesting against ICE. We are all being charged with two misdemeanors: trespassing property after warning and resisting officer without violence to his person. I have so many things to say about this experience, but instead I’ll leave it at this: No one regardless of class, gender, sexuality, or race deserves to be discriminated against. No one deserves to disappear into the system. No one deserves to be ripped from their family, but everyone deserves the right to a fair and just trial. Stand up, fight back!

I’m so beyond tired of seeing this ad pop up on my TV. It’s full of lies! In Twin Falls, YES on Prop 1 protests are every Saturday from 5-7 PM AT 5 points.

BTW a note on extraordinary care, extraordinary care is not up for interpretation. Extraordinary care is recognized to be care that is burdensome, invasive, excessively expensive, or offers no reasonable hope of benefit to a patient.

It seems like everyday I encounter someone spreading some new form of misinformation about Prop 1, so I wanted to make a visual to dispel some of it.

Reproductive Freedom and Privacy means freedom and privacy in all avenues of reproductive care, not just abortion!

But this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go out and vote! We’ve seen that conservatives have an easier time organizing and getting people to vote in Idaho, and they are going HARD on this legislation.

I have heard this one so many times it makes me sick. Prop 1 does NOT make fetal viability political. It just ensures that the determination is put into the hand of doctors, where it belongs, instead of the government!

There is a reason 1/3 of OB-GYNs left the state after the abortion bill was passed! They felt like they could no longer do the life-saving healthcare they previously were able to. If you care about women’s health, you’ll vote YES on Prop 1.

No joke, someone told me that Prop 1 would let Secretaries at Pharmacist’s offices provide abortions… That could not be farther from the case! You still have to be a licensed medical professional, and those medical professionals still have to be trained in abortion care!

This is the most important part! Get out there and canvass, keep yourself informed, and vote YES on Prop 1 on November 3rd. There is a duotone graphic of a Uterus. I have a personal vendetta against Skaug because of everything he’s done. Not to mention the interactions I’ve had with him while giving testimony at the statehouse… He’s one of those politicians that make me sigh every time I see or hear his name because I know it’s going to be followed by some of the most insane news imaginable. I don’t know how people like this make it into office. by @scarrulien

Idahoans United for Women and Families @idahoansunited has WON their lawsuit against the Secretary of State and Attorney General to prevent misleading statements about Prop 1 from going on the ballot.

Prop 1 the “Reproductive Freedom and Privacy” act which will enshrine the right to women’s reproductive health and fertility treatments in Idaho law. It will also ensure that no doctor has to fear losing their job because they gave a woman an abortion.

Fighting any misinformation we can about this bill is an absolutely essential step to protecting and supporting women’s healthcare! by @scarrulien

Sara LaWall, the minister of Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Idaho, was just found guilty of trespassing for her participation in a peaceful protest against anti-trans legislation at Brad Little’s office.
